Nanuq Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 If you look closely the inside of the bottom angle on the "2" is an acute angle instead of slightly rounded. Here are some closeups from my collection that I marked up to show what I mean. Although, the gen insert on my 1680 has an acute angle.... but it's an "inside pointy/flat top 4" from the early 70s, and yours is an "inside/outside flat 4" so I don't think we can make that excuse for yours. Don't take this wrong, yours looks great but if you paid that much for it, you deserve to get the exact parts you paid for.
Nanuq Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 Excellent! I was going to mention the bezel next.......... Nicely done!
Ephry73 Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 Good observations. I still wonder, what the hell will phase 2 be? Makes me want to finish all these projects quick. E
Watchmeister Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 Great work and great thread. It is fun to see the experts weighing in with their comments. And nice catch on the insert boys. From my end it is a good learning experience. And most importantly, wear that one well.
