danielv2000 Posted January 10, 2012 Report Share Posted January 10, 2012 I'm seriously considering putting in a gen 1570 movement into either a Red Sub or Double Red MBW case. The cost of servicing such a movement always convinced me to stay away but the idea keeps coming back to me. My question is, as the title suggests, who services them? Any "friends of ours" here knowledgeable enough to service gen Rolex movements? Where would they source replacement parts, if needed? Thanks for your input. freddy333 Posted January 10, 2012 Report Share Posted January 10, 2012 As long as the watch is fitted with all the usual gen upgrades (crystal, crown/stem) & a good, reasonably accurate dial, most indy gen watchmakers (not a Rolex service center) will service it since few will be able to ID a gen-powered watch as anything other than a gen. wiesn089 Posted January 10, 2012 Report Share Posted January 10, 2012 I'm with Freddy on this one, when you have mostly gen parts (movement, dial, bezel) and good enough engravings you should be good, other than RSC no one will notice it's a franken (it's practically the genuine article anyway). Something about the top movement ring on a 1600 DJ not being conducive to a 1680 build.
