The Waiting Is Killing Me

Impatience isn't the word for it.

All this hanging around.

I knew I just had to have it when I saw it.

But now I've got to wait...

....Just one more day...

...and I'll have it ...

...in my grubby hands.

Don't you just hate it?

I've longed for this for so long.

I think I'm going insane.

What am I talking about? I hear you ask.

Well...

It's Endless Wire which is the first studio album since 1982 by the greatest rock band on the planet...The Who!

and it's out tomorrow.

YEE HA!

It's teriffic John. Been listening to it for some time and it really grows on you. The songs they played live on the show in Boston kicked it :thumbsupsmileyanim:

They boys (albeit short 2 key members) are back in a NEW WAY :D

Go out and get this record :whistling:

Don,

It'll be getting fired on in the car on the way home! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

So anybody that sees a red Peugout swerving all over the road on the A92 will know why.

Hmm ... if it's anywhere near their old stuff, it'll be worth it.

Has Pete beaten the kiddie porn charges?

What kiddie porn charges? No charges placed and no conviction made. He was arrested for viewing a web-site with under age content. No court case followed but he was cautioned and mandatorily placed on the sex offenders list.

The British police are not in the habit of letting anti-establishment rock stars "get away" with something as pernicious as child sex offences - in the full glare of public and media scrutiny. The agreement with Townshend was to give him an official caution - in which the person ackowledges that he/she has engaged in unwise activities (but NOT criminal activity - or else he/she would have been charged) and the person undertakes to use better judgement in the future. A mandatory requirement of accepting the caution is placement on a list of those who HAVE committed offences - even though you haven't. It's like someone being given a mild punishment for having been close to doing something wrong by being made to stand in the corner with those who actually HAVE done something wrong - and been committed of such an act.

Hmmm....it's quiet from jtb... When is the review coming??? Did he not survive the drive home? Was it really a red Peugot? And who is really the who? These and other questions are not answered in the next episode of "JTB reviews The Who!" :p:lol:

Okay guys…….I locked myself in a dark room for 2 days with nothing but the CD, a hi-fi and a couple of bottles of Guinness (well a few).

So here it is:

Overall I would say that the CD is more of a mix of Townshend solo material and Who stuff rather than a ball-bustin Who album, which we have been used to in the past.

A heavy feature of his writing on this is Townshend’s response to his recent brush with law. There are a two tracks where he doesn’t miss the boat, shall we say.

Aside from these, one of my favourite tracks is the poignant ‘Black Widow's Eyes’ – a reference to the Beslan massacre.

Also included on the CD is the much lauded mini-opera ‘Wire & Glass’ which has it’s roots in Townshend’s ‘The Boy Who Heard Music’ novella and blog. It’s excellent and is another illustration of Townshend’s master of storytelling in words and music, if you didn’t know that already from ‘Tommy’ and ‘Quadrophenia’.

Overall it is a very good album. So far, not a match for the great Who albums of the past, but I think it will grow on me more. I’d give it 7 out of 10.

Recommended and with 19 tracks also excellent value.
