The only difference between the two I would guess is the 2836 is not a GMT movement, but uses a gear off the "day" function gear to provide the GMT function. The 2893-2 is a purpose built GMT from the ground up. It's a great, very robust movement and is used in almost every GMT watch that doesn't have an in house movement.
