danza1812 Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 I have sourced a gen crystal and insert for a 16610. What would be the best watch to get to create an accurate sub? Bk's higher cost and painful waiting time versus the cheaper TC but still await a reply to my pm yet. Can anyone advise which way to go? Regards Matt
Erict719 Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 Bk tw looks more gen then tc. However, Tc case is easier to mod, since all gen part is perfect fit. Bk tw need a little mod to make things fit in.
cib0rgman Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 What would you change on a tc, the dial, insert and crystal and you are done, the crown also but is not a must Sent from my SGH-i917 using Board Express
relishingit Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 Quite frankly, either way you can't go wrong. Why not just see who responds first?

Crown and tube is amazing realy smoth in an out and the feeling using the crown an tube feels realy gen!!!
danza1812 Posted February 25, 2012 Author Report Posted February 25, 2012 Wow. Tc is great, think my mind is made up now!

preacher62 Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 I have a MBK/MBW sub w/Noob dial and hands, Clark crystal and gen crown and tube. Has a sweet running Swiss ETA movement. I have re-worked the CGs and replaced the pearl. I have on my want list a gen insert. Can one of you MBW lovers tell me...how does this stack up against these new cases. (I realize that the TW Best is not that new.) I look at these cases and wonder..."should I?" (Even have sent TC two PMs over the last two weeks and have prices from Bert and Sean.) But I think this old watch still holds her own.
preacher62 Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 What about Sean 16610 case? Sean's caseset is great...best bezel of them all. $460 and incl. full case, crystal, crown, dial, hands and bracelet. Everthing but the movement.
ck5533 Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 will Sean's case fit ETA 2836 or 2824? (Stem alignment on the 2836 and 3035 are similar. Also, alignment on the 3135 and the 2824 are similar)

OP: I suggest a hybrid. TW (from bk) but TC's bracelet! I do like the suggestion of Sean's case and set but you still need to throw in a movement if you are so inclined. 460, plus about 160 or so for a swiss ETA and you are in business.
sneed12 Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 will Sean's case fit ETA 2836 or 2824? I have built a watch on the Sean case. 2836 will not fit. 2824 just barely fits. Best bet is to use a 2892.
6now Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 @OP, Sean case is really good, as in really top there. But starting with $460 without a good movement + building cost and it goes up. Your best bet now is TW but if you want value for the buck go for TC. Crown and cyrstal are okay, it's just the insert.
coolchu001 Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 (edited) I would go with a TC if you plan on installing additional gen parts such as an insert or crystal. The TW is better out of the box. Edited February 26, 2012 by coolchu001
irolexu Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 I would say TW. I've got one and simply amazing
Erict719 Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 Only thing I don't like tc case is the rehault engraving .. Its a give away.
danza1812 Posted February 26, 2012 Author Report Posted February 26, 2012 I've got a gen insert and crystal so tc seems to be the way. I may look at removing the rehaut engraving at some point if I get hold if one.

6now Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 All i would change is the insert, nothing more is needed Is this already a gen insert?
Guest zeleni kukuruz Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 Is this already a gen insert? Noop, Tc insert
