rogerthat
Klockis did a comparison a while back, but I thought I would add this new post with photo comparison of a Gen Asso strap and a Rep Kurvasit Asso strap that I treated with leather conditioner to try and match the color of the gen. I also have a untreated Kurvasit asso and ordered one from Hont as well to compare.
panermaniac
Thanks for this. I'm guessing that the Kurvasit is the one on the right in all of the pics but the first one, no?
mbjoer
Interesting that we are left to guess. Looks very close. Does it feel close as well?
rogerthat
Thanks for this. I'm guessing that the Kurvasit is the one on the right in all of the pics but the first one, no? Nope that's the gen The gen has thicker stitches and they are a little more cream in color From the side pic the gen I have tubes in On the back the gen is actually the one with the hanging stitch
rogerthat
Interesting that we are left to guess. Looks very close. Does it feel close as well? It actually does feel very much the same, really the stitching is the only difference I double checked the suede texture and there is no difference in feel or comfort on the rest. My gen is the xl length, longer on the short side not shown If the rep was available in that length I would sell the gen The rep is a bargain considering cost of gen but this is the kurvasit one which is hard to get

rogerthat
I just got the v2 one that the dealers and apparently someone in my thread is selling V2 is the one that comes in the rep bag It is not very well padded and not soft or sueded, looks good but does not feel like the gen or kurvasit's version at all Hopefully I can add a couple of pics this weekend
louky
The rep strap has deeper printmarks on the inside!! Very close match, you cant actually tell from the picture!

Lovecraft
Looking forward to the pictures as well. I'm getting the cartel asso with my 390 any day now, and it would be interesting to know if it's worth it to replace it with Kuvarsit's asso. Also, what leather conditioner did you use? Anything special? The result is remarkable.

projectologist
Does anyone know how much a gen asso strap would cost? msrp is $230 for a 24/22mm (same msrp as for calf straps). That's what it will cost at a Boutique or AD.
rogerthat
Not sure if it is becuase of backorder issue or what but mostly when sold in like new condition they are still getting $250 or so on the 2nd hand market even though this is more than brand new MSRP But I think brand new $230 - $280 seems to be the going rate. Sorry for not posting the pics, I just have not had any time free. I did take the pictures though,so hope to get to it at some point. The new one that most all of the dealers have I don't think is nearly as nice as the one Kurvasit made but as noted many times the Kuravsit one is not stitched very well. As far as conditioner I used Obernauf's https://www.obenaufs.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=20&product_id=30 One of these small tubs will last you forever (or at least 100 straps or so)
