josechano Posted April 8, 2012 Report Posted April 8, 2012 I have the chance to get a gen Tudor 7016 case, I wonder if I could use that case for a 1680 sub project?
Nanuq Posted April 8, 2012 Report Posted April 8, 2012 Gahhhh! Don't do it! A 7016 case is far more valuable than that.
Guest zeleni kukuruz Posted April 8, 2012 Report Posted April 8, 2012 Yeha like N said! Way not just build a sexy Tudor?
highoeyazmuhudee Posted April 8, 2012 Report Posted April 8, 2012 i think the 1680 dial and the 7016 are different sizes.. meaning it probably wouldnt fit the dial opening
Seacraft Posted April 9, 2012 Report Posted April 9, 2012 What they said - the gen 7016 is too good to be put into use as the 1680. Even if you did it the numbers would be all wrong. Why not build the 7016
freddy333 Posted April 9, 2012 Report Posted April 9, 2012 All this 7016 talk reminded me of this thread, which I think you all might enjoy perusing (even if you read it the 1st time).
lethalwl Posted March 4, 2013 Report Posted March 4, 2013 The 1016 case should be similar to the 5513's one. But yes go for the build of a 7016, definitely a beauty!
panerai153 Posted March 4, 2013 Report Posted March 4, 2013 Man, don't do that!! 1680's are a dime a dozen. plenty of good 1680 cases around, The Rose Tudors, especially the old ones like the 7916 are really rare. you can build a great one, use a period correct ETA movement with a Tudor rotor, and if you get a good dial/hands/crown/insert, you can wear it anywhere. there are tons of 1680 "experts", but very few people are really familiar with old Tudors. i promise you, you could hand it to any Rolex AD in the USA with almost no chance of being called out. BTW, Freddy that was a great thread. I just read it. Would be interesting to see where all of the old "Girard" Tudors are now?
