JTB

Missed that one - I guess that's the nearest colour to Mighty Red he could find! Poor old Ged - the orange bezel I could forgive (like Cheyrou) but not the orange leather (the 'El Hadji Diouf') :yuk:.

BTW Rafa may wear a sensible Tag Microtimer but Mrs Rafa (aka Montse) is a bit of a watch fan and every time we win a trophy Rafa has to buy her a new watch as penance/gift/thankyou - I hear she has a penchant for JLCs and Pateks. (Rafa's bank manager ===> ). Oh and Fabulous Fabio Aurelio (our new Brazilian *cough* errr, 'defender') wears a gorgeous PAM 090 B), the weight of which seems to prevent him tracking back beyond the halfway line

Ok borefest over....zzzzz....sorry r11co

hey.. i saw the movie yesterday.. and i already posted in wanted section.. (i need those omegas..) +1 for the rubber strap :)

craig is the first bond to be actually fit.. and i really liked that because the stunts he does seem more realistic due to his looks.

Also his character seems different specially in the end , he becomes so sentimental and so attached to the girl.

I am verry sorry about the Aston Martin DBS though.. we did nt have the time to enjoy it much (neither bond !) he did nt even make it to break in the engine..

a really nice movie all and all

Saw Casino Royale last Friday and I have to say that even though I was eagerly anticipating it, it was better than I hoped! Daniel Craig will make a great 007 and I hope the next films continue what CR has started by having decent scripts so they can get decent actors.

Sadly, the prospects for the scripts are bleak as Robert Wade and Neil Purvis are still on the team - they clearly haven't taken the hint that their first attempt for Casino Royale was [censored] and it took an Oscar winning scriptwriter (Paul Haggis) to rewrite their crap.

I saw Casino Royale last Saturday and I happened to catch Die Another Day on TV last night. Now when Die Another Day came out I recall thinking it was OK but it was one of the few Bond films I just did not care much about (along with the other Brosnan films other than Goldeneye). Anyway, after seeing Casino Royale I cannot tell you how bad Die Another Day seems. it is UNWATCHABLY bad... just HORRIBLE.

There are scenes in Die Another Day that are similar so those in Casino Royale (Bond being tortured, Bond with no shirt, Bond in tense momments with M, of course variius fights and stunts) and they all look so weak, dull, forced and poorly acted compared to Craig in CR. In fact CR has re-writen Bond so effectively that I am afraid I will not be able to go back to the previous films, they really pale in comparison.

The original Bond films with Connery are still very good but are just TOTALLY different types of movies. It is unfair to compare CR to 40 year old movies. The Connery Bond films were novel at the time, they have now been copied and spoofed so many times that they almost seem like camp or comidies. I still LOVE them (and Connery has a coolness about him missing in Craig) but viewed today, with no nostalgia, Casino Royale is just clearly the best of the Bond films pretty much every way you cut it.

As for the plot, yes, it is convoluted and has some leaps of logic but when you really think it through the pieces DO fit. There are no glaring loose ends, just a few gaps you need to fill in.

I read a review in which they said Craig was the first Bond since Connery who does not look like a girl when he runs... I agree 100%. He also looks like a guy who CAN do what he does in the film and is still human and faillible,

it is not just a great Bond movie, it is a great MOVIE... period.

An excellent review, and pretty much spot on my feelings with regards to the movie.

As for the 'gaps' - some are unfortunate consequences of the need to fit in with movie studios' idea of an acceptable running time (scope for a Director's cut DVD there...), others will be filled in in movies to come ;)

PS. Have you considered posting the above review here? Your opinion of Die Another Day is shared by many there. B)

Haven't seen it yet, and I must admit that I had serious concerns about Craig, me being a

hardcore Connery fan, but from what I hear he does a fantastic job as a newly commissioned 00,

that has yet to cultivate the suave ways of the the mature bond.

He's raw, rough and direct...perfect for Craig,.. however Craig in an interview said that he

was signed on for three move movies, thus the rough edges will smooth out over time...

leaving the Bond that we are more familiar with...

I look foreward to the transformation... however remember the early Sean Connery who was much

more physical than the later Bonds, especially the pretty boy Roger Moore, or the totally mis-cast

and vertically challenged Dalton...so if Craig brings that tough & ready aspect back to Bond,..

then I am all for giving him a chance...though I doubt he will ever move Connery out of the top spot... :whistling:

Late to join the party perhaps but the film only came out here (Nederlands) this week.

The first decent Bond since Connery and the best Bond film since 'The Spy who loved me'.

A long film perhaps and I've got a few criticisms of it (reality of the Aston roll over scene and the 'defibrillation' sequence) but taken as a whole this is the closest I've seen to Fleming's conception of Bond ever put on celluloid.

BRAVO!

Oh, and Eva Green? Best [censored] since Madeleine Smith, and she's a better actress by far. Yes, this is an objectifying thing to say, but it's part of the Bond franchise: The Bond Girls are a institution.

The dialogue in the Eurostar sold the film, in my opinion.

I thought it was a great movie, but was really bummed there was no Q and no cool gadgets.

Q+cool gadgets?

Q branch was there saving Bond's life over a car borne broadband connection. We saw some of the most awesome personal motor yachts in the world and Bond wears some top notch wrist candy.

Q himself would have been a frippery in this movie.

Car-borne? That was an Edge (3G) connection over his Sony-Productplacemesson mobile. The blood tester was pure Q-branch though. I'll not go into their shoddy workmanship of some items as that may be construed as a spoiler.

Shows how much I know, I thought it was all being done through his car.

Maybe because the last phone I bought and the one I still use is one of these.

No chance of Q branch saving my sorry ass with a blood analysis using that I'm afraid.

Being a Bond fan myself, went to see the movie yesterday with prejudice for Craig.

I really REALLY wanted Clive Owen for the new Bond and I was dissapointed having heard it will be Daniel. :(

Although the movie was fantastic and Craig was very nice indeed ;)

And here my personal Bond watch version :p

I know the bloody bastard..

It is that now when I think of Bond I automatically believe Clive figure and way of acting matches 100% the Bond character I always wanted to see. :)

I know how you feel, I always thought of (my ex-neighbour ;)) Clive as the perfect Bond, great actor, loved his bit part assassin in Bourne, gave the same cold, hard but vulnerable approach that was tailor made for 007.

However, I have to agree with r11co, Craig has stamped his authority on the role so comprehensively that I actually can't now imagine any other actor doing an equivalent never mind better job. 100% convert.
