Submariner bezel wobble how to fix

Recommended Posts

I have a 16610 sub and there is a slight wobble in the bezel, it can be felt when pushin on the 12 and 6 o'clock indices.

I have read on the rolux forum that some gens also have this problem but i did not find a solution to this problem.

The problem occured after the bezel was reinstalled.

Does anybody know how this can be fixed?

Many thanks.

There are several types of 16610 bezel construction, different engineering..and the better ones are built like the gen's.

You mention the problem began after bezel installation, are you talking about the insert....rather than the bezel?

If the problem is indeed with the bezel, we will need to know what type of construction. If it's the insert, shoe glue will help.

the problem began after the bezel installation yes, my watchsmith had to take it off to change the crystal. It's a TC sub but i emphasize that the wobble was not present before the operation when i received the watch from TC, it was tight to start with. The bezel insert and bezel are fine and no play and are installed perfectly. It is the bezel itself that had a slight wobble in it, which can be felt when pushing on the bezel on the 12 and 6 o'clock indices.

Everyone has avoided the obvious. It's quite possible the bezel was bent during removal. Remove it and lay it on a flat surface, it it wobbles that is your problem, seen it happen before. Even without the tension spring, it should rotate evenly. The tension spring keeps the bezel at the proper height to avoid draging on the case. Hope this helps and good luck.

I just verified the bezel, it's straight. I need to get my hands on a tension washer. I tried TC contacting TC as i want the V3 bracelet as well and some other bits but he seems unresponsive via email and PM. Anybody heard of him lately?

The tension spring does not keep it from wobbling. Make sure your steel bezel is not up on 1 side. Sometimes they fail to be pressed down evenly all the way around, You should certainly ck that to make sure. Even the slightest bit up on one side of the steel bezel will cause a wobble. Beyond that, who knows

Just a small update on this.

I have purchased a new flat tension spring washer on ebay and a new click spring.

TC told me there was no tension spring on my sub as the gen does not have one. I did install the tension spring regardless and the wobble is now fixed. I'm very pleased with the result.
