theflyingdutchman
Hi, I am in need of some help for spending 10-14.000 USD. It is for a friend who has no idea on watches, brands, options… he just wants to be told what to buy? Here the basic guidelines. It must be/have: - MUST have a 2nd time zone indication, a GMT could also work - steel strap, no leather - max. 40/42mm as he has a small wrist - sporty but elegant - will be his daily beater - brand would best more special, e.g. FRANCK MULLER then normal e.g. ROLEX - no vintage - no second hand He also would like to not only know, what to buy, but also why not to buy this model, we recommend! Your help is greatly appreciated. Below an example! Thanks, also for pics or links if you have ideas! Dutchy Rolex GMT steel with black ceramic bezel Pro’s - time less, but sturdy design - functional, a bit dressy Con’s - it a rolex, most faked watch - every body has one
sgtguk
The first one that springs to mind is the Gmt II but you already have that listed! Secondly dont care if it is repped to death its still awesome! A good one for half the budget too ! With change for a New 8500 Po Cant go wrong with that choice ! wat44
Increase the budget! AP dual zone Or failing that, JLC
cougar1
Not an easy task, very difficult to keep a gmt on a small size (i.e 40 or below) ...anyway I'll throw these in as something differerent: Chopard Mille Miglia GMT Chronograph (42mm (wears small)) JLC Master Compressor GMT (41mm) JLC Master DualTime (40mm) all in around 8K-10K retail. or this at about $16K Royal Oak Dual Time Power Reserve (40mm)

asciwhite
How much would a good A.Lange & Sohne run? Thats a quality piece of horologie EDIT : No bracelet on those I think.
Guest idraw
Another vote for a GMT IIC.
HauteHippie
JLC was also the first thing that came to my mind. And of course style is all subjective. Perhaps the Reverso is best suited for tracking two time zones (you know you wear it with only one face up, right): The Navy Seal GMT is a very cool piece as well:
HauteHippie
The dual time VCO might fall in to the upper end of his price range also...
panerai153
Ulysse Nardin Dual Time GMT +/- Pro's Very easy to operate second time zone (hour appears in window, no hand to set) second time zone can be advanced or regressed by using pushers on side of case. Stylish, slim, to me looks better on a strap, but also comes on a bracelet. Great company with long reputation of quality watches Con's Not very well known, thus would be possibly harder to resell if not what he wants. Jkay
Daily Beater, eh .... WOW ... thats a tough one. It can't be a fussy, fragile watch. Sporty, timeless, independent GMT hand .. tough enough to be a daily beater
jtiis
the JLC can be long (not wide) on the wrist, but if it fits I think Chief's recommendation is a good one. Blancpain also has some nice looking GMT's but can't recall if they can come on a bracelet.
