monkeypunch Posted October 4, 2012 Report Posted October 4, 2012 Ever since stumbling on LHOOQ's 1016 builds I wanted on of my own. I gathered up the parts and here it is: The build consisted of: DJ case, machined bezel from JMB, Cartel 7838 bracelet, Dial from ebay seller, Raffles hands, and powered by an ETA 2783 (non-hacking) that beats at 21,600 bph. I may add a hack lever in the future, but I'm content for now
monkeypunch Posted October 4, 2012 Author Report Posted October 4, 2012 The bracelet gave me a bit of trouble. It didn't want to accept my Yuki gen spec spring bars. I had to take a small nail and use a hammer to open them up, it worked well
Ronin Posted October 4, 2012 Report Posted October 4, 2012 Looks great. 1016 build on my bench currently.
dieselpower Posted October 4, 2012 Report Posted October 4, 2012 Great stuff. I have a liking for the 1016 and I have an old cartel version with eta 2836 inside. One spring bar has snapped so I can't wear it any more but I have a question. Is it a good platform for modding into a decent rep? I got it from Joshua about 5 years ago. 1
blue. Posted October 4, 2012 Report Posted October 4, 2012 Pristine Congratulation. Wear it often and in good health!

The cartel 1016 is nice, but a bit of a dead-end, modding-wise. The dimensions of its case (carried over from the old rep DJ) are such that you can't fit a gen-spec crystal, and the lugs are already drilled. You could play around with the dial, but that's already pretty good on this watch.
If you see Kay Posted October 5, 2012 Report Posted October 5, 2012 The cartel 1016 is nice, but a bit of a dead-end, modding-wise. jmb Posted October 7, 2012 Report Posted October 7, 2012 Looks very nice. I think every collection should contain at least one Explorer, if it doesn't, well...
monkeypunch Posted October 7, 2012 Author Report Posted October 7, 2012 JMB, it would not have been possible were it not for your awesome case, bezel and drilled lugs!
dieselpower Posted October 7, 2012 Report Posted October 7, 2012 I'm wondering why you cannot wear it anymore because of a snapped spring bar. ????? I say I can't wear it but I need to a. find a new spring bar and b. work out how I'm going to fit it, as I recall they are bent back on themselves and I have no tools to speak of. Any advice anyone?
