We going to take over the whole bar, OK with me! Steak house looks nice also, maybe as you say there we can get a big table & hang. Location nether here nor there to me. My original thought was a Sat or Sun afternoon thing as places are empty as I had envisioned us getting a big pack room table or basically having almost the whole place to ourselves. I will make a call to a connected cousin in Hoboken, hopefully he can get us what we need. Just been waiting for some normalization down there before making an inquiry. Wine bar backroom should easily be able to accommodate, plus we can get up and walk around more easily than we would at the steak place - assuming we get there before the backroom fills up. Mike on a bike Posted November 9, 2012 Author Report Share Posted November 9, 2012 Burg I have 9 with Poco, so figure 7-8 but it's not the room, we will all be bringing some watches which we will put out at times look at etc. So we need some table space. Considering this is the first time we will be meeting each other in person (for most) IMHO a private setting would be best , but maybe not. Also I always plan on meeting the lowest common denominator of cost, what is pocket change to some could be over the top for others. I have done this before. They use mass transit a lot more than we do. I will tell you that was a concern of mine being in NY out in the open with as far they know 7-8 guys holding 70-100k of watches out on tables. I will reach out to my cousin see if I can get someplace where we know the owner & security is not a concern. By the way a Macy's shopping bag on subway is seen all the time or put some in a small duffel bag in socks with bubble wrap. ( maybe you are on the way to NY Athletic Club what do they know) I use aluminum cases not display type this one highly recommend http://www.techswiss...94&categoryId=2 & i must not buy three as I will fill it! You are not going to get any sketchy folks there it is not a party spot and the only people that even know about it are locals from the lux buildings around there. It is not a popular place for anyone except local wine lovers. It is very safe I can assure you. If we get there before 7-8 we will have the back area to ourselves. Mike on a bike Posted November 10, 2012 Author Report Share Posted November 10, 2012 OK guys got aline on a place http://biggiesclambar.com/hoboken2/ right down the block from path station (site of old Clam Broth House) menu is perfect for a bunch of guys & bar is fully stocked. It is the kinda place we can be a loud or get that way etc...... Prices are reasonable the owner is an old friend of my family as he went to school W/ Mom & Dad back in the day (before WW II). I can make a call get us a spot reserved. If security is a concern I can look into having a couple of guys on the payroll so to speak for the evening. Parking cars escorting our NY attendees to path station after (my biggest concern) drunk guys with a case of watches are an invitation. This being said If Meister thinks he can get a few more in NY location I am all for it, as of yet non of the Jersey guys have voiced any opinion on NY option. I of course will do whatever. Floating Sat Dec 1st evening 5,6,7 ? or the 2nd Dec Sunday 2pm afternoon thing as neither Jets nor Giants are playing we will not have a crowd to deal with.
