I received this from the legend himself, jmb.

However, I am a sucker for low-beat. Can anyone help out? I've looked at the 2789 and 2542, but I'm not sure if those would work...

Thanks!

You could try a 2472. It should fit like a glove the only problem is that it has a different second hand size. But for that watch i'd recommend a 2783 (It's what I have in my 1016). It beats at 21,600 bph, fits the case, and uses the exact same hands as a 2824.

2846 will not work as this particular case is specifically for movements with the stem height of the 2824.  If you want low-beat then you'll need a 2783 as previously mentioned...

Ok Im confused are we talking 21.6k or 28k because I've heard people refer to both as high beat. What are you looking for. 21.6k is high beat compared to 18k :p

True :)

All 2824 movements are going to be 28.8kbph unless someone did something funky to it once upon a time. Usually here at the Rolex subforum when we say "low-beat" we mean 21.6kbph, we don't see many 18k movements here. Over at the Panerai forum it's different.

(Also, we usually mean 21.6 but sometimes mean 19.8 since a lot of the older Rolex movements like the 15xx beat at that rate--clear as mud, right?)

2824 is high beat. That means 28,800 bph, beats per hour, Everything lower than that is considered low beat. It could be 25,200 21600 19800 etc

Unless it means 36,000 bph.

"High beat" and "low beat" are relative, not absolute, terms. And often you'll see 21,6 called "high beat" when compared to 18kpbh movements.

Hey jmb, do you happen to know if a 2783 will swap datewheels with a 2824?

I think they are different, IIRC...
