Christmastime in Alaska

Nanuq

Recommended Posts

I went out to cut a tree yesterday, hiked around the mountain and took a breather to snap a couple pictures as I went. It was -13F with gorgeous bluebird skies and not a breath of wind. Here's my "trail" post-32-135569866947.jpg And here's the approach to my favorite climb. Much easier in the summer! post-32-135569883673.jpg

That is beautiful. must be nice to be able to walk out your back door and find a beautiful fresh Christmas tree within dragging distance? Ours are probably cut in October and they are half dead by the time we see them.

Beautiful Nanuq.... Same where I live

I don`t even bother taking a tree in for Xmas. I think they should be in the forest where they belong... Trees are for pissing, burning & producing oxygen

Ain't no oxygen coming from these, they're frozen solid, no sap running. And wait till the treehuggers find out I'm cutting old growth! Mine was about 12' tall, maybe 8" at the butt and i quit counting at 70 growth rings. Short growing season up here!

Yes, and they're so thick it's good to cut them and thin the woods out a little too. :tu:

And besides he is so close to the North Pole that Santa pop's in for a beer at the start of his run. :)

Hey Nanuq

There was a test of Norwegian Aquavit...

This one came first

Verdict : Round and sweet. Complex and hits like a bullet ;)

Yum!  I made the mistake of wasting some perfectly good money on a Danish Ålborg and it was like paint stripper.  Linie is the only other brand available here and it's much much better.  I'll see if I can persuade them to order some Rakefisk!  :tu:
