Nanuq Posted December 16, 2012 Report Posted December 16, 2012 I went out to cut a tree yesterday, hiked around the mountain and took a breather to snap a couple pictures as I went. It was -13F with gorgeous bluebird skies and not a breath of wind. Here's my "trail" And here's the approach to my favorite climb. Much easier in the summer! 1
panerai153 Posted December 16, 2012 Report Posted December 16, 2012 That is beautiful. must be nice to be able to walk out your back door and find a beautiful fresh Christmas tree within dragging distance? Ours are probably cut in October and they are half dead by the time we see them.
asciwhite Posted December 16, 2012 Report Posted December 16, 2012 Beautiful Nanuq.... Same where I live I don`t even bother taking a tree in for Xmas. I think they should be in the forest where they belong... Trees are for pissing, burning & producing oxygen
cc33 Posted December 17, 2012 Report Posted December 17, 2012 You're a lucky guy, that is one beautiful place to live
Nanuq Posted December 17, 2012 Author Report Posted December 17, 2012 I think they should be in the forest where they belong... Trees are for pissing, burning & producing oxygen Ain't no oxygen coming from these, they're frozen solid, no sap running. And wait till the treehuggers find out I'm cutting old growth! Mine was about 12' tall, maybe 8" at the butt and i quit counting at 70 growth rings. Short growing season up here!
Nanuq Posted December 17, 2012 Author Report Posted December 17, 2012 must be nice to be able to walk out your back door and find a beautiful fresh Christmas Yes, and they're so thick it's good to cut them and thin the woods out a little too.
KB Posted December 17, 2012 Report Posted December 17, 2012 And besides he is so close to the North Pole that Santa pop's in for a beer at the start of his run. Ken
Nanuq Posted December 17, 2012 Author Report Posted December 17, 2012 And besides he is so close to the North Pole that Santa pop's in for a beer at the start of his run. Ken Beer?? I'll have you know that Santa Claus is Norwegian!
maxman Posted December 17, 2012 Report Posted December 17, 2012 And besides he is so close to the North Pole that Santa pop's in for a beer at the start of his run. Ken Sure beats the milk and cookies thing,
TheRefinedSon Posted December 17, 2012 Report Posted December 17, 2012 Lord have mercy, it looks like the end of the world up here in the Arctic. I haven't seen the sun in days and the wind is a howling! lol, wind chill must be dropping it below -30 right now. I'm not complaining though, I could be somewhere warm and broke lol!
asciwhite Posted December 20, 2012 Report Posted December 20, 2012 Hey Nanuq There was a test of Norwegian Aquavit... This one came first Verdict : Round and sweet. Complex and hits like a bullet Link to the test http://www.klikk.no/mat/drikke/article809156.ece
Nanuq Posted December 20, 2012 Author Report Posted December 20, 2012 Yum! I made the mistake of wasting some perfectly good money on a Danish Ålborg and it was like paint stripper. Linie is the only other brand available here and it's much much better. I'll see if I can persuade them to order some Rakefisk!
