monkeypunch
I'm working on an Air-King franken. The only thing I have trouble with are the hands. I can't seem to find Air-King type hands to fit an ETA movement. Any ideas?
racer80
I am by far no expert, and really have no idea, but would the Tudor hands that Clark sells work?
monkeypunch
Not the same shape. This is what i'm looking for:
racer80
Ah, yeah, the Tudor hands would be way off. I don't think I have ever seen an aftermarket set of hands like that. But I am sure someone here can steer you in the right direction. We both know the knowledge base here is incredible. Sorry I couldn't help. phelps22
Wholesale outlet on eBay has them for eta movements.
ubiquitous
Found these while looking through my sets of hands for another friend...
monkeypunch
Are those gold by any chance, hard to tell on my phone. Looking to sell?
ubiquitous
They're steel. Unfortunately, I don't think they'd work for your project as they're gen (caliber 1520). But, if you think you can use them, I'll send them to you.
monkeypunch
Thank you for the kind offer! But, I'll keep looking for gold hands. I've also found these hands are option:
tabularasa415
Yeah, those are going to be much more difficult to find. SS cigarette hands are easy, old school gold for ETA... hmmm... I'd look at the parts section on TZ and really give ebay a good search.
sneed12
I think the second style is called dalphiune styled. 1) "Dauphine" 2) Similar, but dauphine hands properly are properly diamond/kite shaped with the hole in the center, not at one of the points. The ones on that Air King are more properly called Losange-style.
alligoat
I just looked at a gold AK on ebay from '77-78 and it had DJ style hands http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rolex-Men-18kt-Yellow-Gold-SS-Oyster-Perpetual-Air-King-Watch-5500-/300679393786?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item4601e371fa Seems like later hands were DJ style, or maybe people just swapped them out later- but I doubt anyone would question it anyway
