cc33 Posted May 27, 2013 Report Posted May 27, 2013 Hey guys, I recieved my new dials today and just got back from dropping them off with my watchmaker. Should be a day or two before I have the watches back but here's a little teaser for now. For the 4 line I asked for a perfect finish on the lacquer, which he did. The 3-6-9 dial though I asked him to try to make it look slightly damaged/dimpled, kind of like heat or water damage because I've never seen a perfect explorer dial, they all have some kind of wear or damage. I think he managed to pull it off except that the dial is slightly too shiny. I will make it less shiny. Both dials were made using an old school lacquer that is prone to yellowing and crackling. If I'm lucky they will turn into spider dials or tropical dials one day.. I can't wait to see them installed with their matching hands.
cc33 Posted May 27, 2013 Author Report Posted May 27, 2013 Just wanted to add that my dial even though it is too shiny, is better than Minh's. I learned how to tone down the shine with the Minh dial so I'll apply what I learned with the new one. The start point is a lot better this time thankfully, it's easy to see the difference
Mike on a bike Posted May 27, 2013 Report Posted May 27, 2013 Look good, now the wait to see the finished product!
panerai153 Posted May 27, 2013 Report Posted May 27, 2013 man, those dials are really, really nice. One of these days, I'm going to try to get him to make me a Tudor 7924 dial.
mjmj Posted May 28, 2013 Report Posted May 28, 2013 Wow! Very impressive CC. Can't wait to see them cased.
modelizer Posted May 28, 2013 Report Posted May 28, 2013 Man, I need a bib just to look at these dial pics online.. What a work of art!
