Akira
I got a gen 1601 case with gen smooth bezel. I was wondering which slow beat ETA would fit the case? Moreover the dial size is 27.8mm correct? Thanks in advance!
alligoat
If you use the pie pan dial, a 2846 might work. Your dial size sounds right
Akira
Without a dial spacer ring it looks like the A2836-2 could fit the case. Stem and tube align pretty exact. So the 2846 sounds reasonable. I can get them NOS from Switzerland at around $90 - which doesn't sound so bad right? Anyone can chime in which are the best aftermarket DJ hands? I've seen the one from Clarks and some other Ebay seller: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Hands-ETA-2824-White-For-Rolex-Tudor-Date-or-Dress-New-/230914593095?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35c3951147 http://www.ebay.de/itm/ETA-2824-2-2836-2-Generic-hands-for-Rolex-Tudor-watch-gold-silver-repairs-parts-/321104440182?pt=UK_Jewellery_Watches_WatchAccessories_SpareParts_SM&var=&hash=item4ac350eb76 http://www.ebay.de/itm/FOR-ROLEX-FITS-ETA-2834-2836-WATCH-REPLACEMENT-SILVER-HANDS-H9A-/310379258495?pt=UK_Jewellery_Watches_WatchAccessories_SpareParts_SM&hash=item48440ba27f Also, what is the gen reference # of the plexi? tomhorn
I bought gen Tudor hands for my DJ project.
1680
Buy these hands: http://www.ebay.de/itm/ETA-2824-2-2836-2-Generic-hands-for-Rolex-Tudor-watch-gold-silver-repairs-parts-/321104440182?pt=UK_Jewellery_Watches_WatchAccessories_SpareParts_SM&var=&hash=item4ac350eb76 As far as I know gen Tudor minute hands do have a longer "line" of lume and therefor look a bit different. DW: buy a TC, would then look like a service one with closed 6 and 9s.
alligoat
The original DW on a 1600 DJ would have been flat top 3s and open 6/9s. Most were in white and champagne, but I've seen some in silver where a white dial was used. But I agree w/ 1680 on this, a TC Dw would be what you'd get if Rolex serviced your watch these days- or 15 years ago when they still serviced 1570 movts.Hands, I'd just go for what's easiest for you, that being the EU sellers, right? Akira
Thanks for the info guys. The thing is my dial has quite a lot of patina. I'd like to relume the hands, also the gen case has some sign of wear too. I'm using an old style 600 crown, so nothing looks like service but the DW... Isn't there an old style DW available like I have on my 1675 with Dg movement.
Ronin
Depending on how all out you want to go, and if you are open to DG2813 style movements... A Yuki adapter or Stilty (if he is still around) ring with a few seconds of dremel work on the adapter + a "recent" batch of 21j's with passable font and proper distance for a GEN dial will drop right in. (NO OVERLAY REQUIRED). I have one of these movements if need be.
