siesta181 Posted June 29, 2013 Report Posted June 29, 2013 Pre Comex 5514 Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk 2 1
freddy333 Posted June 29, 2013 Author Report Posted June 29, 2013 Freddy I really like that one but isnt that case wrong for that dial? Either way its sweet! Wrong in what way? The initial handful of prototype Subs made for Comex (ie, prior to having Comex signed dials) were off-the-shelf 5513s with He valves added, which is what you see.
freddy333 Posted June 29, 2013 Author Report Posted June 29, 2013 The reason I asked was because i thought the 5513 didnt have a helium valve. Correct. But the 5514, made exclusively for the French industrial diving company, Comex, did. The watches sold to Comex had the company's name inscribed on the dial, but the initial 5514 prototypes did not The Sea Dweller, which was essentially a modified retail version of the 5514, evolved from Rolex's work with Comex on the He valve, allowing the watch to survive decompression in hyperbaric chambers.
panerai153 Posted June 30, 2013 Report Posted June 30, 2013 Mike, the Panerai on your wrist is a model 029 that's called a Tuxedo dial. Some of these are very nice. Certain models had ETA 2893-2 movements, years ago.
