DVNE
Hi all, I recently received this Cartel 1680 with a a2836 and I was wondering if I can convert it to a 5513 with a new dial and a t19? Between the lug on the 12:00 side has ORIG POLEX DESIGN 5513 and on the 6:00 side, it says STAINLESS STEEL L341175. I was thinking of getting ETA 5513 Yuki dial and hands. Thanks in advance! alligoat
From the markings that's a cartel version of an MBW!Sure, you can convert to a 5513.While you're at it, see if you can work on those stubby cgs and maybe put a better crown on there.JJ did a deal a while back where he improved the cgs on a cartel sub- straightened them up on the inside and recessed the area where the case tube goes. You can sand a little off the bottom of the crown to make it a bit thinner. Looks much better that way too Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk
Rolexaddict
gen 1680 cases are thicker than gen 5512/5513 cases, first issues gen 5512/5513 cases (from mid sixties) were very thin and had twinlock crowns things go thicker later,
panerai153
Actually, if you wanted to use a gen 5513 dial or a good aftermarket, it would fit your case fine. The gen/ aftermarket1680 dials are bigger and have to be shaved or the dial groove in the case enlarged. Biggest knock on the old MBW "polex design" cases, they were really made for 5513 dials. The 1680 dials that came with the watch are smaller in diameter than the gen/aftermarket dials.
