TVG
After doing my research, I'm stuck. I'm sure I have the same problem as all of you here, there are too many timepieces on my wish list and I need your help in making my first purchase. I know each watch in my list I would receive and thoroughly enjoy, however I want my first to be exceptional. I'm sure it'll come down to personal preference regarding style, but I would still love to hear your thoughts. I've decided I am not too fussed on the watch encasing a swiss made movement and will be satisfied with an asian clone. Here are my choices: Rolex - 2011 Explorer II 42mm White (the only problem I have with this is the GMT hand colouration) http://www.p-cls.com/0rlex00010-2011-explorer-42mm-white-p-12045.html Rolex - Explorer II 39mm White http://www.p-cls.com/0rlex00088-explorer-white-a2836-p-11662.html Rolex - Pro Hunter GMT PVD http://www.p-cls.com/00rlgph00009-hunter-asian-2836-p-12554.html Omega - Planet Ocean 42mm Ceramic SS/SS Black http://www.p-cls.com/omcpo42151-pocean-ceramic-ssss-black-asian-2826-p-14718.html Tag Heuer - Aquaracer 500m Calibre 5 SS/RU White http://www.p-cls.com/tgaq01001-aquaracer-500m-automatic-ssru-white-asian-2824-p-7957.html Panerai - PAM 056C (yes I know it's a lefty) http://www.p-cls.com/0pn056c02-056c-tobacco-brown-p-12949.html Panerai - PAM 026K (also a lefty) http://www.p-cls.com/pn026k02-026k-lefty-dlcle-p-11748.html Don't get me wrong, this is the short list. The long list is ah... long. I'm just looking at pieces that are within a certain price range if they were to be gen. Thanks in advance, I'm looking forward to your opinion. As much as I want a white dial SS Explorer II. I agree with you on the 42mm PO, it looks great. I'd prefer my first purchase to have a GMT hand though. The PAM 026K I'm in love with and will be the exception having no GMT. What were your thoughts on the Pro Hunter GMT? I'm leaning towards it at the moment, as it looks good with a nato strap as well. Mike on a bike
As I said had one really did not like but you may. Maybe one of these GMT and Pam rolled into one 088, I have one like it.
astonjenks
Or simply go for my beautiful PAM029 on the sales pages with OEM Croc strap. Regards AJ
fitmic
I'd go for the Omega 42 mm ceramic, but the noob version from any other dealer than Joshua or Andrew since they don't deal with noob factory.
panerai153
I don't like to make recommendations, because it's really hard to discern what someone really likes. But of all the above, I have had the 42mm Explorer, didn't stick and was seldom worn, sold Never had the 39mm Explorer GMT 29 like AJ's, had one many years ago, and foolishly sold it for something else that also didn't stick!! Mine had the 2893-2 GMT movement and it was a good one! PO , never had one, never was a big fan of Omegas, have had a couple of genuine and couldn't love them PAM destros, know nothing about them If It were me, I would jump all over the 029 that AJ is selling in the sales forum. It's a timeless beauty, equally useful as a dressy watch or with jeans and t shirt.
hbkiddy
Depends on when and where you want to wear it? As an example, I love Panerai, but find they tend to have more of a casual look... I struggle when wearing a suit and shirt to carry the look off!
astonjenks
Can i just say that I only ever wear my PAM 029 with a suit, look at the photo above and you must agree this is one classy dress watch. Regards AJ
Nightwatch
1. Explorer II 39mm it´s beautiful and it´s not a small watch - the dial fills all the space; the GMT works perfectly, wear it even more since it sits on a black croco; It´s classic, it´s dressy, it´s sporty, it´s got a touch of adventure and exploration, not overstated and it slides very well under the cuffs, very very good lume 2. The PO You´ve chosen is the one I like most, have put it in the favs for the future, different kind of watch 3. Forget the Pro-hunter GMT - classic Pepsi or Coke or the blue-black ceramic Sub 4. Prefer the PAM 186 Arctos GMT with date (special price on Toro) or any of the Flybacks Best is to get 2 different ones out of the 4. Good luck with choices You will like any of those

I have both the Pro Hunter GMT on nato and the PAM 026K. Both nice watches but very different in terms of style, at the moment the 026 gets more wrist time. droptopman
Not a PAM guy but if I was I would buy AJ's. That is one classy time piece. Beautiful dial on that. The Explorer night watch posted looks nice also Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
TVG
I appreciate the overwhelming response. Overwhelmed is exactly how I feel haha. AJ's 029 is amazing. It's out of my price range for this purchase though. I believe my attraction to the Pro Hunter GMT and the PAM026K is their ability to be subtle and modest. I'm guessing I'm now looking for flaws in relation to the gen. Interesting we have similar attraction to style, mstan83. I've been looking into other PAM 029's in my price range. Vegasvic
You have a great list there, can't really go wrong with any of your choices. For me personally at least, I'm in the market for a 42m PO and the Tag 500m, although with a black dial. Those two PAM's are sweet too!

importr
Although I'm not a PAM man at heart, I'd choose a PAM rep. Simply because they are simple. I've owned the others in the list and have had reliability and quality problems with all of them. Only giving my opinion and experience as I know what first time buyers are like when their first rep breaks on them. If I helped to supply it, I am the one who ends up fixing it for them. All I can say is don't expect perfection and gen performance. Just think of it as a bit of fun!
