droptopman Posted April 28, 2015 Report Share Posted April 28, 2015 We are working on one of the newer Yuki 7206's to adapt the end piece set up to be similar to gen and so that will accept 2mm bars. Also another issue with the stock Yuki is that the last link/rivets are too thick and hits the lugs on both a gen spec 5513 and 6538 cases. The way the end pieces attach to the last link does not provide enough clearance and also does not allow the bracelet to lay flat like gen. I worked on mine but lacked the tools and materials to finish the idea I had to make it work, so sent it to a friend who has more experience and talent with these type of mods. Once I get it back, I will write up the process....if it works. I haven't been able to find any other supplier who can get a bracelet even close to Yuki's. I'm not sure who his supplier is but clearly they either only produce small batches or Yuki only buys them in small amounts. I doubt it's the latter as Yuki has such a demand for them he'd unlikely but small batches. I know previously Yuki was offering them in 2mm gen spec sizes so it's strange now he specifically says it can't fit 2mm. Anyway I look forward to seeing your update. It's possible to make a Yuki look and feel like a gen, except for that blasted end link. All my vintage pieces need folded/riveted bands and your little project here is gonna save me $2,000 plus for each one. Fingers crossed for a good outcome! When I get a Yuki I use my cheap $7 set of grocery store jeweler screwdrivers and I cram and twist the #3 slotted driver through the springbar tube. Then I cram the small Phillips through there and twist to open it up. I can do that and get gen bars through the end links and make it fit my vintage cases. If you search some recent threads many who were lucky enough to buy these bracelets when in stock were asking Yuki to convert the bracelet before shipping. The second one I buggered up which lead to the idea of actually modding it to make it more gen like on the connection to the case. On arrival the endlinks looked a little flat, maybe they were stepped on in transit, so not a great start. (The bracelet was in a FedEx envelop without protection, it had been opened by customs – also delivered to the wrong address. I was surprised to see at all.)On to the pics. Endlinks on arrival:As in previous posts, the endlink loops need to be massaged, or more precisely cudgelled into shape to accept gen spec springbars. Here's the result, strap and endlinks still need some final finishing and the bracelet hasn't been resized.Still not 100% sure it suits the watch, profile of the endlinks are probably more suited to a 6538 or 1016. Great bracelet though. Still haven't gotten one yet. I have done it but it is not easy with thick metal end links, and these look pretty thick.Something similar to this might work. Clamp the bottom of the link in the pliers and form the top with a rawhide mallet. jackflash Posted December 20, 2015 Report Share Posted December 20, 2015 Thought I may as well exchange the 80 endlinks with a set from MQ I had knocking around as I wasn't happy with the originals from Yuki. It's a tricky job but managed fairly well. First I dismantled the Yuki endlinks.Massage the springbar retainer until it can accept gen-spec springbars.Reassemble by slipping the springbar retainer though the MQ endlink. Carefully fold back the springbar retainer around the last bracelet link bar. I masked everything off while doing this, using various screwdrivers and pliers to get everything back in place.
