RolloRon Posted August 20, 2015 Report Posted August 20, 2015 Could anyone advise if the standard Rolex case back openers (nut type) fit rep watches? I've tried my sticky ball but its too tight. I also have a 3 prong universal wrench but don't want to chance stripping the case since 316 ss is pretty soft. I'm looking a buying a set on Ebay - they're pretty cheap about $20 for the full set of six.
themannier Posted August 20, 2015 Report Posted August 20, 2015 This one is a good set and not expensive also http://www.ebay.fr/itm/Watch-tool-rolex-tudor-Oyster-waterproof-watch-Screw-back-case-opener-5537-/231655821080?hash=item35efc34f18It will fit to all rep Rolex case backs, no worries
alligoat Posted August 20, 2015 Report Posted August 20, 2015 Could anyone advise if the standard Rolex case back openers (nut type) fit rep watches? That set that themannier linked to should work. But it is the chinese copy of the better set made by Bergeon. Also, sometimes the Rolex dies don't work on the rep casebacks, but they're usually close enough to get the watch opened.
Mendota Explorer Posted August 22, 2015 Report Posted August 22, 2015 I just bought a very similar set with the dies on Ebay. Cost me just over $20 with free shipping from Singapore. As soon as it arrived, I tested it on all of my watches and it fit perfectly.
Mendota Explorer Posted August 22, 2015 Report Posted August 22, 2015 I can post the link to the seller if you like. He was the cheapest one at the time. Shipping was really quick to the US, too.
automatico Posted August 22, 2015 Report Posted August 22, 2015 Some of the China made Bergeon look-alike case back dies will not work on backs with recessed splines like the 6694 but seem to fit everything else Ok. The outside diameter of the die can be machined or ground down just above the splines to make them work. I have a set branded 'Tianjiu' and the 6694 die will not fit the case back.
cavi Posted August 22, 2015 Report Posted August 22, 2015 I found that with some watches i needed the press for the diesSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
