Dan71
Hi, i need your skilled opinion, i saw on ebay these faded rep insert, what do you think ? there are big flaws Vs gen insert ? the line between the number seem gen-style thicker than the cartel one..and on the top of the number there is a little space like gen. the diameter seem correct for cartel bezel..Outer diameter 36.50mm, Inner diameter 30.20mm link and pics example http://www.ebay.it/itm/FADED-BEZEL-INSERT-ACRYLIC-PEARL-1680-5512-5513-7928-ROLEX-SUBMARINER-/322379193470?hash=item4b0f4c1c7e:g:CWUAAOSwpDdVdiKJ http://www.ebay.it/itm/BEZEL-INSERT-ACRYLIC-PEARL-1680-5512-5513-7928-ROLEX-SUBMARINER-VINTAGE-/322379193455?hash=item4b0f4c1c6f:g:LHcAAOSwstxVA1Yh thank you ! alligoat
They look ok to me- like a service insert with the thinner font numbers and decent pearls. WSO also sells a better insert- I used it in my 5508 build http://www.ebay.com/itm/BEZEL-INSERT-FOR-VINTAGE-ROLEX-SUBMARINER-5513-1680-PLASTIC-ACRYLIC-PEARL-12-/310977055461?hash=item4867ad4ae5:g:ujMAAOxyjP1R1vdA
Dan71
Tks Alligoat Yes the insert of my link seem a gen service insert ! Your link show only a pearl.. and I have already a yuki pearl (Rolexaddict says that but I'm not sure..)Or do you mean that wso have a better bezel alluminium insert ? alligoat
This is the 5508 w/ the WSO insert - I don't know if it's aluminum, but it's ok- the one you're looking at might be a shade better.
Dan71
Maybe it is the same insert and the guy on ebay ( my link) buy it from WSO and than only faded it ..But how many watch do you have ? :-O

RickFlorida
Yeah I don't know how you guys can tell the difference between a gen insert and a high quality insert like Yuki. You guys amaze me.
Dan71
Yeah I don't know how you guys can tell the difference between a gen insert and a high quality insert like Yuki. You guys amaze me. @RickFlorida do you mean that yuki bezel-insert is the best for the 1680 ? On his website I saw only one bezel insert named 'rolex sea-dweller submariner bezel insert'http://www.yukiwatch.com/catalog/item/9020785/10270361.htm
RickFlorida
I don't know which one but maybe a fat font? Either way...... I assume you guys just can tell if the age looks right?
Dan71
Yes I'm asking if yuki have correct fat font numbers for 1680 and if there is other big flaws that I can't see on it.The insert on my eBay link (that maybe is = WSO) in my opinion is not to bad , is similar to the gen service: tiny number(not fat), number 4 with top little squared, little space between the top of each numbers and edge of the insert, fat indices between numbers. Nanuq
The Yuki is pretty darn good, but there are differences between it and a gen Fat Font. And MANY hundreds of dollars in price. Take a look at these, one is a Yuki and the other is gen fat font. Which is which?
Dan71
The second have n 4 with serif so I think gen And the first yuki ?

Nanuq
Yep first is Yuki. Pretty close eh?

Nanuq
Yes, exactly. The inside curve on the bottom is replaced by a simple angle on the Yuki. Still, not too shabby.
Dan71
Not to bad the yuki ..but I prefer the WSO with thin number (see Alligoat pic above) similar to a gen service insert.
