hammers39
What does this mean? Some descriptions were stating I believe that certain parts were genuine?
capre
It means that they had the genuine watch as a reference when designing the rep. 1:1 means that the rep should be equal to the genuine piece but thats just a fairytale.
Mike on a bike
In theory specked out to gen, let us say case size ,ability to take gen parts, in some cases an attempt to recreate the movement. Hammer it depends on your goals if you are looking to get a watch that pretty much looks the part most decedent reps can be worn and none but a watch enthusiast will now the different. As you read here you will see many threads w/ guys "modding" their reps w/ gen parts (a dial is a big plus for instance ), crowns , bezels shaving/reshaping crown guards/ cases to get it closer to gen you name it it is done . Some even get gen movements , now if not open case back who is going to know if same beat , well we do that too. So read around figure what you can live w/ in regard to money / mods if so inclined. My advice is to look at our sales section there are plenty of modded /upgraded reps at this time and decide if that is for you if not just find one you like want go to one of our dealers buy wear enjoy! Just a word guys sales threads are not a place to ask questions unless your buying, you can ask in brand specific areas or here.

Some descriptions were stating I believe that certain parts were genuine? pure marketing hype.. and a description used by factories to tell you that they copied the rep from a genuine sample. But this is often very misleading and meaningless, because EVEN IF they did so, often the genuine and replica movements are different, and this will require for other details such as the dial, case, hands etc to be modified accordingly, thereby rendering the marketing statement untrue. Never believe the 1:1 hype. Believe what you see, and read the reviews on the boards please. No genuine parts will be used in replicas, and no design will be 1:1, despite their blatant claims. Otoh they probably could make almost identical to genuine cases and bracelets IF they wanted to. Dials and hands...Maybe. Movements...Not likely. The "1:1" movements (tongue firmly in cheek) seem to have Many Gremlins. Make that Many, Many Gremlins...more than AMC ever made in the 1970s. As time goes by, some of the 'Boutique' vintage replica cases may pass for genuine, no telling about current models even though some are very close to genuine straight from the factories. Genuine vs replica Gremlins! Gremlin X Levi's Edition. I leased one of these new in 1973, $91.81 a month including tax, $0 down...258 six shooter, AC, three on the floor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oI5e8qSbEgA
