I'm looking to purchase a star time Rolex case. I registered as a new user but I don't have a business so I can't make a purchase. Does anyone know how I can buy one?

I heard that if you join NAWCC- National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors- Startime will let you make purchases. It like $30 a year or so to join.

I got a few of these recently. What do you think besides the fat lugs and stubby crown guards? I think they're a lot better than the earlier ones. Apologies for the threadjack consider it a bump 🙂

What can you do with the stubby lugs? To be fair I haven’t placed a crown in position to get perspective as I’m moving house and needed to pack it away. Maybe it isn’t that bad?

The only thing you can do is file down the tube seat between the lugs, but that will only get you a mm or two.

Have you done it and were you reasonably happy with the outcome?

I filed down the seat between the lugs on a cartel 5513 with the stubby crown guards- it worked out ok. I installed a 702 crown and tube and it's been a great beater- the a21j has hung in there for 4-5 years now.

I examined my gen 16800 and 16610 (R serial) and the crown guards aren't that long. I also looked at my 16800 franken with the ST 3035 case and those CGs are also somewhat short but not noticeably shorter than my two gen subs. Installing a gen 703 crown also helps since the gen crowns are typically thinner than the rep crowns. But alas, it tough to find gen used crowns at a reasonable price these days. 10-15 years ago you could find gen crowns for $30-50 used.

I have a few if you need one.  I am guessing you are talking about the 16610 case?

Long time no speak bud, but since you posted this would you mind pm'ing me to discuss ? I am looking for a decent case to build a sub (5512/13/17 1680, 16610). I have access to the ST cases but am leary of the crown guards...

Thanks,

Bob
