bbell6 Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 Any suggestions on where to source good aftermarket bezel inserts for Vintage MBWs?
ubiquitous Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 Modern or vintage? I'd suggest going with genuine... The look/appearance of gen parts is unrivaled. These parts will cost a little more than their aftermarket counterparts, but they are definitely worth it... Vintage/1680/1665/5513 Modern/16610
bbell6 Posted May 1, 2007 Author Report Posted May 1, 2007 Modern or vintage? Vintage. I think I must have slipped my edit in while you were responding.
rag9fx Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 (edited) Bell, If you can't find a Genuine insert you can't go wrong with CWP insert and hunt around for a gen pearl ( those - the pearls- tend to show up on the Bay now and then you just have to keep your eye's peeled) like this one : Rags Edited May 1, 2007 by rag9fx
eunomians Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 OEM is the way to go. But there are, from time to time, some really good aftermarket items. It all depends on what model watch the insert is for (some are better than others).

"Clark Watch Parts"?

If not, can you provide some info on a source (you can PM me if you want). Ofrei used to sell very gen looking vintage style pearls for about $13. With a bit of aging, they could be made to look exactly like a 30-40 year old gen pearl would look. But I do not see them listed on their site today.
Mickey Padge Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 Have a look here for good quality parts and info. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...=vintage+insert I have a gen dot too spare, if you want it PM me... EDIT: Follow the ebay link in that thread, and the seller has two dots for sale right now!
Mickey Padge Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 OK who got them? The pair of gen dots have gone already!
freddy333 Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 Not me, but those are the same dots (not the 2 this person is selling on ebay, but the same type) I purchased from Ofrei for $13 each last year. They are very good.
rag9fx Posted May 5, 2007 Report Posted May 5, 2007 Everytime those luminous dots come up on e-bay they get bought so swiftly probably by folks from here ... i know i am guilty of snatching them up twice... anyone ever notice how much packaging he sends them in ... hilarious
TeeJay Posted May 5, 2007 Report Posted May 5, 2007 You could try ClassicWatchParts, but their prices are not cheap...
Mickey Padge Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 I thought it was you Justasgood. I saw you follow over to the other link I provided
Justasgood Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 I thought it was you Justasgood. I saw you follow over to the other link I provided Yep, now send me the hollow center link bracelet I wanted that you traded the MBW solid mid-link for :-) I really need one......bad.
Mickey Padge Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 Yep, now send me the hollow center link bracelet I wanted that you traded the MBW solid mid-link for :-) I really need one......bad. Hehe, yes that is a good bracelet for sure The end links included were modded for gen springbars too! Just what I needed for my 1680 or 1665 One of them will have to stay with a Nato band, but which one........
ubiquitous Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 Ubi -- Are you sourcing the genuine vintage Sub and Sea-Dweller bezel inserts on ebay? If not, can you provide some info on a source (you can PM me if you want). I source mine from a different source. 2 of the 3 sources I regularly use for Rol parts could get them at one time, but now it's down to just 1 of the 3...
