Febus
USA without a doubt. I can't believe nobody has mentioned them. If some bad ass dude is trying to shut down your nailbar/beauty salon business in order to build a casino on your land then these guys are the special farces you need as back up. Plus if you've got any old crap lying around in your barn they'll build a tank out of it.

rdorman
Thinking about the topic of this thread.... any one up for a new reality TV show? Seriously I would be interested in a show down with SAS, SBS, Delta and the Israelis. Although, the question is impossible to answer.

cool-arrow
Thinking about the topic of this thread.... any one up for a new reality TV show? Seriously I would be interested in a show down with SAS, SBS, Delta and the Israelis. Although, the question is impossible to answer. There was an American reality show a few years ago with all of the American special forces competing against each other to see who was the toughest. I think it went on for 2 seasons and the American PMC's won both times from what I remember. Various countries do exersizes with each othere and the PMC's always win. I think it is funny when people throw out countries that have no active military, with no proven track record as having the best Special forces. If you saw some of the mentioned countires uniforms you would know that they are not as elite when they get hand me down uniforms from the US. When you see some countries wearing there native uniforms you would laugh at them becuase of how un-camoflauge they are. They look like there wearing a bright green get-up and getting ready to go to a techno club, or rave. I still think USA has the most versatile force just becuase of ther sheer amount of special operations units it has. USA really only has one special forces unit called the green berets. Then each branch (that is 4) has a few elite special operations units of there own. Not to mention the millions of $$ the USA spends on PMC's. ratchpot
Some of the best in the world Grenzschutzgruppe 9 IMO, GSG 9 definitely wear the best watches (Sinns...) Special Air Service I think the Special Boat Service are more highly rated. Not that this all really matters...
ekhunter
In all seriousness, since this is a purely opinion based thread, I would have to say the Delta Force operators would have to be the best, that is, if we are sticking to the topic of the best special forces/ops. This group is made up of the best of the best from U.S.N. Seals, Army Rangers, Marine Recon, USAF, and Army Special Forces. These guys are the cream that has risen to the top of their respected units. I would still fear having to face the forces of the Ugandan Liberation Front when machete to machete combat is concerned. These guys weild a mean blade.

ekhunter
Mnnnnn i remember a few opps they would rather we all forget. Well two come to mind right now, but that's look at the bigger picture on those. If you are thinking of the mission in the desert of Iran. I blame the politicians and senior staff for very poor planning and timing. If you are thinking about the one in Somalia, I think that was a heroic and unfortunate stand. Also, one must consider that three Delta force guys, pinned down, took out maybe over a hundred skinnies until they ran out of ammo.
sssurfer
Everyone will usually answer that their special forces is the best, for some reason. In this case may I include the best robbering politicians force?...

That it the thing higher echelon comd elements play a major roll in the planning of SF ops, normaly SF ops are only planned by the highest level. The soldiers them selfs in most Sf are VERY good, but in the wrong place at the wrong time or with the wrong info can do very little to efect the strategic battle, the level that they are best employed.
