A new project to build another of my favorites models: datejust with smooth bezel... this time a more modern model (16214):

What do I have today?:

Gen case + tube (btw)

Gen dial

Gen crown

Waiting for:

Tudor hands

Silix ETA datejust to use movement, spacer and bracelet.

Spare parts pics:

hey vmena

are you sure that is a gen dial?

if i look close at the luminous dots at the hour markers some of them are not alligned with the minute strips

or is that normal for a gen dial?

by the way succes with your franken datejust

from which supplier do you get your parts(case,dial etc)

From roling, on eBay (case and dial)

Fro the crown, you many sources in eBay... just wait to find one in the gen pack or that the seller knows the reference he's selling...

fun project!

My only question is, What is a 16214? I've never seen that model? Is it marked between the lugs with that? Usually, the smooth bezel 'modern' DJ is 16200. but that sounds intriguing.

According to Rolex case designation,

162 = Datejust

1 = Finely Engine Turned

4 = Stainless with 18K WG

So with that number, it should be a SS Datejust case with Finely Engine Turned Bezel in 18K WG.

That looks like a polished SS bezel.

Best of luck and I look forward to seeing the results.

Proably my mistake the numbering... surly it's a 16200... so bezel is polished SS...

Thanks my friends for your kind words... I always wanted to have a SS DJ... I missed a good opportunity from my mate Manuel and now I have a pretty good one... I will replace the dial for a roman numerals one as soon as I have cash again ;) Now waiting for a good SS oyster bracelet and in search for a genuine clasp...

Beautiful job, vmena. And that's one of my favorite combinations with the silver stick dial and the smooth bezel. I don't know how many Frankenjusts you've built now, but you certainly have the program down. Congratulations.
