In the national level there were a few "super subs". You're probably too young to remember Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, but he always tied the game for the Germans (the bastard). I guess Oliver Bierhoff was his successor (kinda). Kamerun sensation Roger Milla (from Italy 1990 tournament) comes to mind as well. The player who reached his peak at the tender age of 38.
