madasboot Posted May 22, 2006 Author Report Posted May 22, 2006 replaced original crystal (bad plastic / bad shape) with a bombé plexi. Strap is original and of remarkable good quality... Some bleach (4min bath) and a nice soft brush does a miracle. Looks like a survivor from a North Atlantic Campaign. Leather conditioner treatment after the bath to prevent from cracking. and now some engraving on the back to match...
madasboot Posted May 22, 2006 Author Report Posted May 22, 2006 Comparition shot. I find the case shape more cushion shaped and quite a bit bigger than the 183 (bought from Eddie on May 2005) ... and of course a little less bulkier than the 127.
ubiquitous Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 Looking good!! Glad to see the 1950 is back in action! Man... The caseback engraving on the Cali dial 3646 is VERY nice touch! I love it!

Also Madas, could you also help me in getting one of those plexi's. Sorry about the bad pic Eddy Hi Eddy, Pic is great (vintage grain makes the watch look older - and your wrist also...) I am going to ask my watchsmith but I don´t remember it being expensive... I´ll inform you guys as soon as possible. regards, marco
madasboot Posted May 23, 2006 Author Report Posted May 23, 2006 (edited) Hi Eddy, Just talked to my watchsmith who told me that you´ll need a press to install these crystals. The normal diameter for this model is about 40mm wich means that a small variation on the crystal diameter won´t do the job. For that fact they usually need the watch prior to install it in perfect conditions. The best I can do is to take him your watch and he´ll do the job, otherwise I can send you a crystal and you must take the risk of misfit. By the way, the price of a crystal like this is about 15 euro. My watchmith suggested that you search for one of these crystals on a local watch parts supply shop. The blister they come in looks like this: regards, marco Edited May 23, 2006 by madasboot
V Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 Thanks a lot Marco... I will let you know for the glass when I will proceed with my project.

I know you've been looking for a strap for your fixed lug WM 3646. Here's an idea below. Looks like this person just cutaway part of the bottom layer at the loop end of the strap then re-sewed along the sides. I like it.

Hi Leitz, Have you seen the one I will sew to the fixed lugs of my 3646 as soon as Finepics sends it back to me? Special order from Watchinger (and post production by myself!) M.
