ubiquitous
Recently, I did a little work for a friend on his MBW. This watch started life as a COMEX 1665, and finished up as a DRSD. Here's a very quick and dirty of some easy mods following along the transformation of a watch from one look to another... Start: Close up of the bezel insert- Compare with the genuine replacement- Insert installed- Next we move on to the crystal- In this case, a genuine Tropic39 Superdome- Compare with a genuine flat Tropic39- And, finally a swap of the dial- Please don't mind the poor quality photo's- I told you it was going to be a quick and dirty Best regards, Randy Edited May 31, 2006 by ubiquitous

Jetsons
Beautiful work, Randy! I suspect you will have one very happy friend. The T-39 superdome must be seen in the flesh to fully appreciate the beauty of the crystal installed. It totally transforms the 1665s specially if accompanied by the gen insert. IMO, the top two mods that can be performed on the MBWs. Cheers, Jet Edited May 31, 2006 by Jetsons
slay
thats a nice DRSD... but I've already bought too many watches (and one very expensive cortebert movement for a vintage pam project!) within the last few weeks Edited May 31, 2006 by slay

ubiquitous
Thanks, gang! You're all too kind This was a fun one to do, and an absolute pleasure to work with the owner on this small project! I typically tend to keep mod work to my own personal watches, but a small side job here and there keeps things interesting for me Cheers! XRT
but a small side job here and there keeps things interesting for me I can definitely vouch for Randy's customer service (speedy, great communication and very friendly.) Randy has hinted here that he may be open for business...which is great news for the board if he is. He has replaced inserts, a dial and an crystal for me...and the work looks great. silvio
Excellent Randy. I love the fact that the comex case looks a tad thicker, much like a gen SD case
Watchmeister
Randy- Looks great (per usual). Did you do anything with the caseback? PS I just picked up the AP Foundation from Thomas with the better bracelet. Hmm! By the way I agree - 8, 0 and 4.
ubiquitous
Randy- Looks great (per usual). Did you do anything with the caseback? Thanks W! Oddly enough, this one had the non-Comex caseback on it. Seemed strange to me... At any rate... I have your dial ready to go
