A very special Grand Finalle POTR auction

KB

Recommended Posts

As you all know the Admin team made a decision to close down the POTR auctions so that Rob and our members in general could reflect on the marvelous achievement with contentment and then move on.

However no sooner did we close the section than we were contacted by a senior member who wished to put his RWG C1 up for auction in support of POTR.

It was agreed that this being a very special watch would be a perfect way to round off the fund raising with the eventual winner forever having a memento of the wonderful place we call home.

Without further ado I will hand you over to Ubiquitous to post about his generous offer and I ask you all not to post until he has set up the auction.

Hey gang,

Thought I would sneak this one in at the very last minute, with a little help from our moderating team (thanks, guys!). I know the POTR auctions have drawn to a close, but I felt that the following watch was very fitting for the cause, and wanted to bring this one to the auction block for bidding (Sorry it's a little late; I haven't been terribly active on the forum, and I missed this entire discussion until just a few days ago).

At any rate, the watch in question is the infamous RWG Collaboration Watch, limited in series (this one is #014/100) and complete with inner and outer boxes. This watch has never been worn, sized, with the plastic wrap still on the band. The conception and execution of the RWG watch has quite an interesting history and past; I won't digress into those details here, though for those of you who feel compelled to do so, I believe the origins and endeavors to get this watch delivered can be researched here on RWG :) This watch features Omega Railmaster styling (specifically in the case, dial, hands and bracelet), and is powered by the ubiquitous (heh heh) ETA 2836. I believe the case measures in at 42mm, excluding crown.

Ah yes the infamous watch. I too won't go into the details but it was brutal and I missed out. For a good guy, I'll start us off at:

$100

To perchance own an infamous watch, I bid $150; to own a watch that has lain upon the famous countertop, I raise my own bid to $170.

Ok let me say one more thing.... :p This was the project that drove me from the old RWG. I didn't lose money but I lost friends and I would of preferred losing the money. Plus jetmid promised me a ride in his plane and left me hanging!!!!! I will try my best for this watch, it would kinda be like going full circle. If anything the proceeds go to help someone in need. It was hard but we as a group came out the other side better and stronger. Sorry newbies, you had to be there. It was the WILD WILD WEST in them thar days. :D

@LR that's what makes this memento all the more valuable, today it represents what it was supposed to back then but failed.

I would be all over this except I have one of my own. -_-

Its a long drive from Canada to Southern California... But I guess if you want to make the trip, you can take it for a test drive!

The provenance and history of this piece is particularly amazing. I am not sure if I can divulge any more information beyond that, but what this watch represents is incredible.

For the winning bidder of this watch- You will be owning an amazing piece. I'll leave it at that...
