Martyd3 Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 It is amazing what you can get for about the cost of three reps
wadan Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 It is amazing what you can get for about the cost of three reps Congratulations , Very wise decision , best money I spent on watch. Wear it in good health Cheers
Martyd3 Posted May 13, 2008 Author Report Posted May 13, 2008 Sweet. Is it a Cal. 861 movement? Yes, it is about 20 years old, so it should have a Cal. 861. I have not cracked it open. Was just serviced in the past year and winds as smooth as butter
crystalcranium Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 Hey...no subdial spacing issues!!! Sweet piece and yes...that 3 rep to one gen logic is tough to beat sometimes.
Guest porsche356a Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 Beautiful watch. Its got nice HISTORY, and is as timeless a design as any. Congrats!
lazarini Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 Phenomenal ... love it ... i think guys above summed it up nice ... wear it well! Laz
Martyd3 Posted May 13, 2008 Author Report Posted May 13, 2008 Timeless designs ... that is a good topic. Definitely the Speedmaster and Rolex Submariner/Seadweller. What other watches are in this category? Heuer Carrera, Rolex Daytona, Patek Nautilus???
Nanuq Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 Beautiful ... one of the few watches left on my short list.
tmg Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 Congrats Martyd3! Certainly a timepiece icon. That just happens to be my wrist check watch today -you have good taste Mine is a 2000 but I swapped the bracelet out for an older, lighter 1171 style.
piratedzeus Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 Mind to tell how cheap I can pick up such a piece up?
Guest Sql_pl Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 Beautiful watch. Will add one to my collection this year too. Can't decide if I prefer sapphire or acrylic crystal yet... Definately closed caseback!
promotersf Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 Nice pickup, that's a CLASSIC. Your logic makes total sense, you can enjoy that watch for 5 more years and sell it for the same price if not more than what you paid for. Enjoy it!
Leifhaus Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 Is that band stock or aftermarket? There's a gap between the band and the lugs. Beautiful watch, still afforadable.
Ylfig Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 Very nice, I really have to get one. Like the guys said, great investment.
PAMman Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 Congrats Martyd3! Certainly a timepiece icon. That just happens to be my wrist check watch today -you have good taste Mine is a 2000 but I swapped the bracelet out for an older, lighter 1171 style. When I bought my gen Speedy it hadn't been worn at all and the bracelet had the new protective seals stiil in place. I took the bracelet off and wore it on a black leather punched (rally style) strap instead. Now I have just taken delivery of the same 1171 bracelet and haven't fitted it yet - thanks for showing me what'll look like.
