Any Pro Evolution Soccer fans onboard?

Now, after the Euro 2008 this might be a proper timing.

I've been playing this game since PES3, and I never seem to get tired of it. I just recently got PES 2008, which was a big disappointment though.

PES5 and PES6 (PC) are the best football games ever created, imho. Both have their strong points, and I play them both. For PES5 I have classic national teams installed, and for PES6 I have the modern.

Any other fans?

If someone wants RapidShare links for this game, let me know and I'll post 'em.

If you're not familiar with the game, check these out.

Thanks MP.

No, I never installed that because I have a "classic patch" for PES5. Including best-ever players like Diego Maradona, Pel

No, there was a separate classic patch too. The default classic teams are very poorly made. Especially the faces, they don't look authentic at all. Not even the most famous players, like Pel

I was addicted to PES 5, then I played the 6 (which is nice). But I still like more PES 5.

Pes 2008 still doesn't convince me :bangin:

Exactly my thoughts. In PES5 it's much easier to defend. With the short pass button you can kick the opponent's legs (mildly) without getting penalized. I still haven't figured out how to defend properly in PES6. I guess the only option is to run into the attackers. Any tips? The shooting is almost complete lottery in PES6, but then again the passing game is better.

Two things that bother me in PES5:

1. The players' speed doesn't make enough difference... cpu's slow defenders can keep up with the fastest attackers. Almost impossible to get any kind of breakaway.

2. Passing game is too difficult, especially the short passes.

The penalty shootout sucks in both versions. I wish they'd make it longer with proper slow-motions, and made it so that the skill actually counts. Now it's a complete lottery. I also hate that you're not able to get any kind of scoring summaries and stats from the cpu simmed games.

PES2008 is just way too easy and uninspiring. A clear step backwards. Let's hope PES2009 improves. Personally, I think they should have sticked with the working formula, and not rewrite the game. Don't fix something that ain't broken. Eyecandy is nice but that should never be the priority in sports sims.

Nope. :( I do the same thing! -_-

That's why I like PES 5. It's not easy. You just hate those things....but the harder it is, more fun you get! :D

Sadly that's true for everything....except for some games like Grand Theft Auto. Every game is nicer. :)

I have been playing football games since sensible soccer(1992), and then became huge fan of fifa97. I made the switch to PES around WE3 (if I recall correctly) and I was swearing that I would never go back to EA's hands..

Then PES2008 came, and that was a huge disappointment. All these years, the same problems and still no step in the right direction. Namely: I hate the fact that loose balls are always caught by defenders, header-passes usually end dead centered to defender's feet, and the through ball is really a joke: it is always enough strong so that the keeper will capture it in front of your striker.

I tried the fifa2008. A different animal. Had to struggle against the start of the learning curve. Gave up since I found it too 'fifa' for my taste.

And then I tried the Euro2008. Now, That I liked. Still, fighting to learn the finer details of it, but for a start I get a better feeling of dashing, running, passing, and full control of the shots. It is not without its faults, but it feels fresh compared to the same PES taste..

tnx bytor! this version for the PC will be enough 4 start...

one question : what is dt4...and how do I do the installation once I download all the rar's (I know I have to unpack them...)...but what do I do after?

I dunno what dt4 is, either. I copied the text from a warez board. Probably just a mounting program. I'm sure any mounting software will work, like WinISO.

Or then just burn the image to a DVD and install normally.

@geo: Thanks for the tip. I will try FIFA 2008 one of these days. Does it require more or less cpu than PES 2008?

Try the Euro2008, not the Fifa2008. It is better. I think it might be a bit heavier on CPU usuage, but if You strip it from visuals, it is worth the try.. I have 3 systems, pc-xbox360-ps3 and so far I hate to admit that the xbox has the best versions (both konami and EA) .. and I say HATE, because the controller is hiddeous for football (very bad diagonal control)

@MP: Yes I know... can't wait to see PES 09. Let's hope it's better than the disappointing 08.

Just tried FIFA 08...

The interface is better... and so is the penalty shootout. But the rest is not even from the same planet with PES... it's much easier, less finesse and it has more "arcadeish" gameplay and moves. Not impressed at all. Played with Pro difficulty... Argentina vs. Brazil (cpu) and I won 3-0... and it was my FIRST game!!!!!

In PES the cpu still kicks my arse after all these years... and there are many more finesse tricks you can still learn when you really, really play a lot.

PES 5 & 6 are still the best ones hands down.
