robertk Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 Yes and No. Yes.......U Boats are up and coming with the big watch crowd. And No........you ain't missing a thing!
Guest Sql_pl Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 Looks like a crappy quartz you can get for $10 at a local mall's newspaper stand. Just don't get it.....
takashi Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 Same sentiments here... I have see a rose gold chrono version for 15000 Eur... I nearly on it. In short just: :yuk: :yuk: :yuk:

alt.watch.obsessive Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 Well if Gnarls Barkley is down with it I gotta have one
freddy333 Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 The U-Boats look like they might be the next 'Hey, look at me!' fashion trend now that Panerai has become yesterday's news among the fashionable elite.
dluddy Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 Keep in mind it is Stallone's new watch fashion choice
TeeJay Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 Keep in mind it is Stallone's new watch fashion choice Now to be fair, Rambo Stallone was first impressed by Panerai's visibility. If he has problems with his eyes, the even larger U-Boat watches would be even better suited to his needs than a Panerai... I have to admit, I quite like the look of some of the U-Boat watches, but not enough to buy one
AMK000 Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 U-boats are with 50 mm dial , isnt'it ??? Who dares !!!
sul Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 Dont know...all about that negative attitude about U-Boat... I will buy probably U-Boat quartz, I need one good solid "hard work watch" I have a big wrist, so ~50mm watch is quite ok for me. U -Boat has a "clean" looking dial, it`s simple, quartz movement is bullet proof, I like that.
the osteopath Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 The U-Boats look like they might be the next 'Hey, look at me!' fashion trend now that Panerai has become yesterday's news among the fashionable elite. Did you see their booth at Baselworld? There is a 6-12 month waiting list for most of their current models- not exactly 'yesterday's news' by any standard. -O
szvwj Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 I don't get it either, they look pretty ugly to me... but then again, I thought Bell & Ross were ugly when I first saw them. Now I own an 03-92 and it's one of my favorite watches.
JHM Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 (edited) Here in the Netherlands U-boot watches are hot. We have a trent for a few years here, U BOAT started this trent with the big watches. Now you're seeing big watches in every clothes/fashion show for 50 - 150 usd. I really don't like them. A real U BOAT wil cost at least 500-700 usd. Please give me a MBW ROO for that money Edited July 22, 2008 by Juriaan
eunomians Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 They've been very popular in Europe for a few years now. I like the way they look, but the sizing is ridiculous, and as such, I would never want one nor wear one. They remind me of airplane gauges, which are cool to look at (but not to wear). Cheers
fotoman Posted July 22, 2008 Author Report Posted July 22, 2008 well, i guess in some circles - they are hot oh well
