tsailung Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 Just want to get a survey here: Who is happy with their Carrera thus far? Any mechanical hiccups? Where did you purchase it? Thanks.
dkaoboy Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 I love my carerra. No malfunctions so far. Purchased it 3 weeks ago.
Guest Posted August 16, 2008 Report Posted August 16, 2008 I love my Carrera, so much I bought a gen rubber strap for it. Mine came from Josh. I have had it a little over a year.
greg_r Posted August 16, 2008 Report Posted August 16, 2008 Mine is currently my most-worn watch. Love it.
slask111 Posted August 17, 2008 Report Posted August 17, 2008 I have one that i bought from J. Works fine but look/feel is not the best. But then again im comparing it to the Link that i also have from J. Now the Link is just outstanding.
Samurai Posted August 17, 2008 Report Posted August 17, 2008 What about Grand Carreras? Anyone got them?
topgun Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 I have a Carrea Racing Chrono from King. I'm very happy with it. No problems except that it looks better on large wrists. My wrist is thin. Still a very nice watch. I'm thinking about getting a gen leather or rubber strap for it.
importr Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 I have a Carrera Racing from King (when they were first released). Six or eight months ago it stopped working completely. Now it lies in the dead watches drawer at home. Shame really, as it looks very good with the bracelet
Guest Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 Ill give you $100 for it shipped.....(serious offer)
topgun Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 Have you found a good leather one? No but another member told me about a site called GlobalWatchband.com. I'm going to look them over and see if they have good prices. When it comes to rubber bands, go with a gen rubber band. I tried a gen on at Macy's and its a totally diffent look and feel.
topgun Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 I was in Atlantic City this past Sunday at the Tornneau Shop at Ceasars Pier. They have a Carrea Racing Chrono and its a dead ringer for the Racing Carrea rep I was wearing. I was able however to detect a difference with the rubber band. The gen had more of a supple appearance and feel.
topgun Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 Have you found a good leather one? No. I'm still wearing the strap that came with the watch. I spray it down with silicone spray every now and then to get it to soften up. Its only stiff where it connects to the watch.
geopal Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 I got this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...52BSI%26otn%3D4 but did not add it yet.. Looks good, but hard leather and don't think it will last long.. However with a leather strap the watch gets really serious
TagMatty Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 The Carrera Racing w/ SS band (from CQ Out) is the first rep that i have bought and i love the watch. Some minor flaws are the slightly wider than the gen spacings between links in the braclet... and the noisy rotor when spinning freely. Other than that the watch is perfect. Next purchase is the 2004 omega seamaster GMT and of course the Tag Link Chrono.
damnfinecat Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 I got my carrera from Trusty Time and its been ok. I got it with the chrono function on and it wouldn't stop, after sending it back it was fixed by him and it worked well. Then one day a friend decides to try the chrono and the same thing happens. Now its sitting at a watch-smith who says he can't get parts to fix it... The look of the rep was pretty good when I got it, only few flaws were the misalignment of the bezel and the blue screws in the movement. This would have been a great rep if the chrono could work properly once...
jody73 Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 I have a Carrera Racing Chrono and I am very happy. It looks much better than expected, but it is in need of some servicing immediately. Needs a bit of oil to stop all the scraping sounds. I should have bought it with service as I think for instance Trusty Time can deliver. Cheers
