Rolexman Posted September 28, 2008 Report Posted September 28, 2008 Well it looks pretty nice, apart from the Asian date font. Due to the case back, bracelet and HEV, I think it's our old SOSF with a different dial combo? Not exactly an accurate rep. The pearl looks much better though! A genuine can be found second-hand ranging from Euro 700,- and up....It's sort of a starters Breit IMO The rep would make a nice daily beater! .... too bad the price is way too steep (especially considering the ETA is probably a clone) http://www.joshwatch.com/bl02014-superocea...242-p-5107.html
iceberg1459 Posted September 28, 2008 Report Posted September 28, 2008 very nice, like it better than other ver
Mickey Padge Posted September 28, 2008 Report Posted September 28, 2008 What about the case size? Could you drop the old SFSO dial + movement into the case?
Mickey Padge Posted September 28, 2008 Report Posted September 28, 2008 Na smaller case size, Shame, the bezel cut looks better/crisper, and so does the pearl... EDIT: Actually they both are listed as: 43mm x 16.5mm
Rolexman Posted September 28, 2008 Author Report Posted September 28, 2008 Na smaller case size, I doubt it... 43mm SO or 44mm SOSF. Maybe a difference in measuring method? I would bet it's the same case.

FxrAndy Posted September 28, 2008 Report Posted September 28, 2008 They defiantly look smaller in the Ad window
italiano17771 Posted September 28, 2008 Report Posted September 28, 2008 superocean is 42mm and the steelfish is 44mm. i agree with what many already have said....the gen can be found for under $1k.
FxrAndy Posted September 28, 2008 Report Posted September 28, 2008 Like this one currently @ $760 on the bay
chrgod Posted September 28, 2008 Report Posted September 28, 2008 A nice watch. The pearl is much better than on the SFSO rep. If it hadn't been for the helium valve and date font, I likely would have bought one... The model number on the back, A17390, is for the Steelfish.
milsub5517 Posted September 28, 2008 Report Posted September 28, 2008 i like my "old" version better pearl looks similar to me...
milsub5517 Posted September 28, 2008 Report Posted September 28, 2008 Do you see what i see? Look at the numbers cut on the bezel, looks like they are painted on the gen and not painted on the rep!! Gen:
Rolexman Posted September 29, 2008 Author Report Posted September 29, 2008 Do you see what i see? Look at the numbers cut on the bezel, looks like they are painted on the gen and not painted on the rep!! There are some variations between the gen models... yours is of an older make. The new SO is bigger and has no painted engravings.
importr Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 I thought there was currently 2 versions of SuperOcean? 1 being the one with painted numerals (the original US Navy issue?) the other being the Steelfish X-Plus? and now we have the current Steelfish with triangular seconds hand has the gen numeral version been discontinued?
iceberg1127 Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 I believe the bracelet serial number placement is also innacurate. if it comes on the pilot professional 2 style braclet, it should have the same markings as the steelfish.. idk about this for sure, im not claiming it to be a fact, but im almost certain, also, the other features noted by memebers plus price point. however, concerning price, it is a fair observation that most of us, my self included have at least one or more gen pieces in there collection. those who do not have certainly invested enough money into projects that they could easily afford to purchase the gen. so at some point the watch collecting of reps becomes like owning a piece of contriband artwork. how close can the factories come to producing clones of the worlds most prominant lux brands? At what point will we decide to simply purchase the watch baised on whether we like the looks andf npot whether the case hole lugs are drilled within .000002 centimeters of the orginal, or some other detail no except a brietling or rolex representative would ever notice just my two cents, sorry, it must be the espresso
andreww Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 Am I the only one that noticed that the font on the bezel are completely wrong? No open 4 on this model and no serif on the 1. Gen Rep
m4rcus Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 Am I the only one that noticed that the font on the bezel are completely wrong? No open 4 on this model and no serif on the 1. Yep, the bezel is wrong. The case back is wrong too. It has 2000M when the dial has 1500M. It looks like the dial dots at each numeral are too big when compared to the gen. The numerals seem to be off too. Notice how the gen has a "3D" effect...here is a crappy pic of my gen:
andreww Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 Yeah, on close inspection this seems to be a SFSO with a SO dial. Notice the brushed case and different crown as well
m4rcus Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 Yeah, on close inspection this seems to be a SFSO with a SO dial. Notice the brushed case and different crown as well Looks like you hit it on the nose. A Mutantfish SuperOcean.
milsub5517 Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 So now this is officially one of the worst breitling reps this year. lol
andreww Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 Not very good, but I thought this one was worse...
Rxus Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 Well if it is the SFSO case then it would be easy to drop your old steelfish (asian) dial into this thing and not have to fork over the $350 to have saphire and AR and as a benefit you get a cleaner looking pearl. Just an idea
