Try using Mocha VNC lite from the app store, it's free and can control both mac and pc desktops

All you need is a vnc server running on your pc, wouldn't use it over the internet though since security is limited

For internet access I use logmein , reasonable but save desktop connection.

There's a few good ones out there but they expect a certain version of Windows... XP or the dreaded Vista. Whatcha got?

Sure, there are a few ways of doing it. You have either RDC or VNC to think about.

Would this be the same as the program call 'Gotomypc' ?

I used this program when I went on my holiday last year, you need to leave your computer on but you can then access it from any computer around the world.

Or I suppose iPhone's and such.

yeah check out Mocha soft's Remote Deskop, it has a free version to make sure it works with your PC the app is like 5 bucks
