vric Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 This is my latest project. Mostly Davidsen Parts. PVD Movement Gorilla Strap I don't like the wheels on the movement. Would have to try to polish them or find some better. Let me know what you think !
Toadtorrent Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 That looks great. Where does one go to find somebody who can PVD stuff? What's the proper search in a phone book??
vric Posted January 28, 2009 Author Report Posted January 28, 2009 That looks great. Where does one go to find somebody who can PVD stuff? What's the proper search in a phone book?? Ebay ! Got it from a German guy.. It's asian, but price was really good. Good quality (I striped it completely, cleaned and serviced it) it was already oiled correctly in most place. Only problem was the hour wheel. Too thin for the H3 pinion (so I took one for another movement) Thanks for comments
Toadtorrent Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 Ebay ! ...and here I was giving you all the credit when all you did was Snipe some other poor sucker.

RWG Technical Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 Looks great. I would polish the winding wheels and blue them, that would look much better. RG

Thanks in advance for the answers... Look like real PVD yes.. it's plated everywhere (under parts, side etc.) I think it's good quality, but the finish before the coating isn't the best. So.. you get what you pay for.. this is an $120 Asian movement.. Can't have everything (better quality will run for $300 ++)
hooky Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 WOW!!! THIS ONE LOOKS AWESOME. Congrats on this very nice looking project. Perfect with the gorilla strap...

vric Posted January 29, 2009 Author Report Posted January 29, 2009 Can I ask where the case back is from I have no idea A member was selling parts few months ago and I saw this PVD caseback. Knowing I was going for this project, I got it (for about $10 shipped ) I don't know who made it or where it come from. and what is it for?? To protect the movement.. Don't wear you watch without a case back.. Even more if it's automatic, the rotor get in the hair of the arm and it stop working Sorry, I don't understand your question Thanks to all for your comments!
