cornerstone Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 lol an honest man deserves respect. I have to say.....it's not a strategy that panned out for Gerald Ratner. hxxp://www.thejc.com/articles/interview-gerald-ratner
valerian Posted March 29, 2009 Author Report Posted March 29, 2009 I have to say.....it's not a strategy that panned out for Gerald Ratner. Sad story. But Beyer doesn't really run a risk saying this: He knows people buy watches even though they don't really "need" them. They crave them, and that makes his business.
R0NiN Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 This is especially true when you consider the cost of the watches he sells and the rest of us try to collect, Rep or Gen they still cost a lot more than a digital Timex that serves the same purpose. It's a lot like cars, sure I can buy a base Toyota and have a reliable, fuel efficient car, but its not art; a Lamborghini or a handmade Swiss watch? that's art.
nikki6 Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 Lol, lets face it, Ratner doesn't deserve to walk on the same street as this guy though!! In saying that, Ratner was right, what he sold was a pile of sh!t!!!
