JoJo35
I've got a full blown custom 1990 FZR1000 Kenny Roberts race bike Although not quite on par with a new R1, it still has 127RWHP, and can perform beyond my (experienced) level. All in all it's a great weekend street/track bike Insurance is about $130USD a year
Fireman_Fred
For the last 4 years I have owned a Ducati 900SS which is worth around 2000 Euros. My Fully Comprehensive Insurance + Breakdown Recovery cost me 100 Euros. - I'm in the UK. I think my 34 years motorcycle riding experience weighs in my favour !! MagnusW
You think Sweden is high on insurance costs, but Norway is even worse! You probably have to pay between 1700 eur (2400 usd) and 4000 eur (5600 usd), maybe more if you're under 25 years old and your bike has a lot of HP. Its not how i should be. nikki6
My god Sixx..... That's a nice collection. Love the gixxer K4. Is that a monthly fee or anually? // H That was for the whole year. Yeah the K4 is such a great looking bike, last model before the ugly end cans and that nasty duckarse tail piece!! The Ltd Edition black initially came with all the stickers and crap on, so I removed them all and just left the silver 'S' on the tank, got black screen, tri oval carbon end can, system is already titanium, all my bikes have specially made rear-sets (foot pegs), the right one has slightly bigger spikes so my boot would catch and grip on it as my right leg is paralysed. (Well to be fair so is the rest of my right side now and I'm blind) but was still able to race and keep with any fast group anywhere. Goes to show, doesn''t matter whats wrong if your heart is in it you will find a wy to over come it!! Sixx

szvwj
I've owned motorcycles since before I could drive on the street. After spending several months in Norway (Kongsberg) and seeing how expensive and difficult it was to have a nice motorcycle, I just had to buy another one. I picked up the Bandit 1200 for $3500 USD (used) and the insurance is $243/year. It was a little scratched up, but that doesn't effect the performance (which is all I'll ever need). ducatista
Hi Henrik. Down here in Oz I ride a 2007 Ducati Sprot Classic 1000. I have added quite a few modifications - mainly higher quality after-market alloy parts from Italy amd amazing Beringer brakes from France. My insurance is with a company that specialises in insurance for motorcycles and sports cars. For this motorcycle (and my 1994 Honda Civic Type-R) I pay $1200.00 per year (about 7532 SEK). To get this price (for asportsbike and a fast car), both must be kept in a secure place and not visible from the street (and I've been riding motorcycles for 30 years) Good luck with your choice of motorcycle and insurance. Kollektor
Hey. I've had a GSX-R750 02 for a few years. It's my third GSXR. Got it for $7800 in 2006, but it had more than $8,000 invested in aftermarket parts including Ohlins springs, Penske mono, Yoshi full system, etc. I'm an old fart so insurance isn't too bad until I lose my license. Pay around $1,000/year or so. Love the GSX-Rs, but I have to say... all the new brands have something going for them. Just depends what you like. I love 600s and liter bikes, just not a big fan of twins. Had an RC-51 for a couple years.
DavidBreitling
I had a feeling watch nuts might also be bikers, too, especially from some of the avatars with bikes. I joined the Harley generation about 8 years ago via a Fat Boy and pay about USD 800 per year, but we can only ride 7-8 months a year, like the Scandinavian countries, but the hearty Scot probably goes 12 months a year. This is about double US insurance rates. Riding over 30 years, just one accident last year, but a dousie, a deer jumped over my bike in the Black Hills of South Dakota during Sturgis bike week. Broke my neck (C1), in a halo for 7 months, probably 12 months of physio, can't drive for the time being, and medical bills in US of $15,000 for two days, didn't really do anything, and back in Toronto, medical claims of probably US 50,000 when all done including income replacement, not to mention the US 15,000 to repair the bike. All covered because I had the proper insurance. So if anyone is considering riding w/o the proper insurance, think again....... RIDE SAFELY and Have Fun.
