dluddy Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 OK, so I finally got around to completing this project....or should I say Ziggy did This UPO started out as a Trusty UPO Lite. Fresh back from Ziggy it now includes the following modifications and improvements: Movement swap to genuine ETA 2824-2Correct Omega Logo (swap from Silix dial)Gen Omega HandsGen Omega CrownGen Omega He ValveGen Omega Planet Ocean Rubber StrapChief Double AR on CrystalZiggy Superlume Dial to match gen hand lume (perfectly I might add) I'm calling mine the ZPO2tm I opted not to do the Dial and Bezel swap like our esteemed member LordRasta who coined his the ZPOtm

vlydog Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 Congratulations D, The watch looks fantastic. The words "Fresh back from Ziggy" sends chills down my spin.
Guest Sql_pl Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 That looks great! Congratulations! But I guess with The Zigmeister and all the goodies it added up to almost gen price!
dluddy Posted November 21, 2008 Author Report Posted November 21, 2008 That looks great! Congratulations! Thanks M. But I guess with Ziggy and all the goodies it added up to almost gen price! Not even close. I am all in under $600 edit: before the gen Rubber ($160)
LordRasta Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 Sweet! The ZPO2. I love it. The ZPO is going back north to get a gen DW installed. It will finally be done after some long years and at twice the cost dluddy spent which goes to show that I'm twice as crazy as he is. Wear it well my friend.
wheaton26 Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 Not even close. I am all in under $600 wow, that's great don! where did you get your gen strap? i've been looking to replace the one on my gen po but am not willing to drop $300 and don't trust the ones on ebay etc. let me know if you have a good source. thanks.

Got it on TZ Chris...For half that
bwhitesox Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 Now that is officially my next project....Lovely
By-Tor Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 Now that's a UPO I'd happily wear! Stunning... Big PO and TAG Carrera Racing are the only watches that I'd prefer on a strap.
wheaton26 Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 Got it on TZ Chris...For half that i must have missed that one ... great find! all the best.
RobbieG Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 BRAVO brother. Now THAT is a great rep watch. I dare anyone to honestly say the gen watch is any better than this. Hey dluddy, would you mind letting us know what you have into this all told so the members can compare the cost of your project to buying a gen? I bet it is not even half of a gen street price which is currently running maybe $2600 or so for the 45.5MM on rubber. If I only had the time and project inclination, I wish I had done this to my UPO when I had one instead of buying the gen. I mean, I of course love the gen, but projects like this can be very gratifying when you finally finish it. And for you noobs, here is my gen 42MM for comparison so you can see how accurate this watch is. Hats off to you again dluddy. Great job man. and a couple showing the gen He valve and crown profiles as well...
clellandm Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 Very nice customized rep - with all you have done there should be virtually no difference from a gen - and all for under $600? Incredible! RobbieG, thanks for the gen comparisons. Beautiful watch and photo skills!

My rule (like others is to keep a Franken to under 30% a gen or not do it). This one is all-in about $750. UPO Lite (second hand sale) $100Silix Dial for Logo swap $ 30Ofrei Parts $150Gen Rubber $160Chief DAR $ 652824-2 (from another proj) $ 35Ziggy Spa $200Total $740 I opted not do do the gen dial and bezel (for the insert) as this would put me well into $1000
spooky driver Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 fantastic looking watch dluddy and cool photos
RobbieG Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 Yeah great. Less than I thought. I figured a grand or so. $750 sure beats $2600 for the gen and you basically have the same thing. Congrats again on a great job and great score... Thanks Robbie. My rule (like others is to keep a Franken to under 30% a gen or not do it). This one is all-in about $750. triplehd Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 dl- to fit a gen crown - did you have to get a gen tube as well or does the gen crown fit perfectly on with the rep tube? Also - same with the HE valve?

jody73 Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 Congratulations. It is just perfect! In time I'll try to get one like that. Cheers jody
jkirke Posted November 29, 2008 Report Posted November 29, 2008 awesome work bro. may i'll do that with my old UPO lite. ga' damn The Zigmeister does some AMAZING work. i'd deffinatly be uberPROUD to wear that bad-boy daily!!
joefratguy Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 Man this is exactly what i want to do.. and its right around what I wanted to spend. I guess i gotta get started!
Sweattdogg Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 Nice work. I have a deal I'm trying to work on for a gen, but if I can't get it done, I'll build one like this. Nothing like a little help from The Zigmeister to make a work of art.
