  1. There are some seriously potent pics here today, gents. I do not see a single shabby image in this thread. The gen fora may, for the most part, have the best watches, but we have the best photographers.

  2. ~~~~~Please know that everything in this thread is my opinion and I don't want to present them as facts!~~~~~~~~ Well, as an old timer on this board I've seen the entire life cycle of the Asian 7750. From the early replicas with the old 21.600bph jewels version which were poorly finished up to the latest 28.800bph version and all the alterations the Chinese could make up. One thing that clearly stands out when it comes to the Asian 7750 is that there are lovers and haters. The later are in the surplus! Especially the Asian 7750 with the running seconds at 6 gets a lot of negative attention. Not entirely without reason as the Chinese altered a perfectly designed movement (Valjoux 7750) to transfer the running seconds. They could have done that without compromising on the performance but they cut some corners and what you get is a relative unreliable movement when not taken care off properly. There are some modifications that can be done to it but I won't go in to that now. What I do want to share is what a great movement the Asian 7750 is. Yes, it is great! In it's original configuration (12-9-6) it is at it's best as all the parts and functions work like they should. It is the basic configuration with the least chance of problems occurring. So why is the Asian 7750 so notorious? Well theoratically it's not the movement itself but the condition under which it is assembled that causes most of the problems. 99% of all Asian 7750 movements are either dirty, dry, over oiled or a combination thereof. Ad poor quality checks /craftsman ship and you can ad loose screws, uneven hair spring coils, loose pallet stones and a lot of other stuff to the balance. But what can you expect from a 300$ watch? In order to give us these beautiful reps for such low prices they have to cut expenses somewhere. If they would ad 8 hours of proper assembling and QC's the price would dramatically increase. And let's be honest. Most people don't care if their movement is clean and on par with the genuine. They are more concerned with the aesthetics. And for the few RWG nerds that are? There is The Zigmeister of every other watch maker. So my point is: The Asian 7750 is in it's basic configuration a great movement and on par with the ETA 7750 if assembled and checked correctly. That does mean that sometimes parts needs to be cleaned, oiled or even replaced. But after that... just perfect. Some nice pictures to conclude! Mark Here's a random picture of an Asian 7750 as can be found in almost all reps. Dirty and shabby... Here's an Asian 7750 after a full clean and oiling with the screws replaced by silver ones. Compare it to a factory delivered Chronometer ETA 7750 Side by side... Performance of the Asian 7750 Performance of the Chronometer ETA 7750

  3. This is my first River 6154. The required look was old but cared for, not overly abused. Parts: River 6154 case set (softened and shaped slightly by me ) River stock crown, softened and aged. River stock rear plexi yellowed and aged. River front stock plexi aged slightly. Movement ring is modified from an Athaya moly ring for a silix 6154, needed to be sanded on the outside and height dropped. It has also been treated with a salt / lemon / vinegar bath to age it and some beautiful green patina formed. Athaya hands ( aged and lumed by me ) Athaya RP dial ( Painted by me ) Lumed with Cornholio's vintage lume. Molnija 3601 seconds trimmed ( cleaned and serviced by me ) (thanks Tanukjaju for the help and advice  ) I'm using a sanded and slightly thinned moly dial as a back plate for the dial to raise the stem a little. It's still got it's pins so it's locked in to place and the Athaya dial is attached with dial tabs.

  6. If you want a Breitling which is close to the gen I suggest look for the 2012/2013 models from the TDs: Superocean, Skyland Avenger, Super Avenger, Chronomat B01, Chronomat Evolution etc. These a really VERY good reps with a decent build quality. Even the SS bracelets from these a very good - I have Skyland Avenger and Chronomat B01 on bracelet and was surprised by the good quality (compared to the cheap Navitimer bracelet)!

  7. A little tip for all you polishers out there. Try Micromesh abrasive cloth, you can get a selection pack on eBay going from 1500 grit through to 12000 grit it's brilliant stuff, waterproof & hard wearing. from 6000grit upwards you achieve a perfect mirror finish. Not the cheapest but worth every penny! P.S. What a excellent job you done there, in fact I rekon you could have done that case re shape yourself, no?

  8. Hi james, don't worry too much. I think you've done the right thing as to call them to explain your end of the story. Usually law firms will not pursue any case where there is no money to extract. Even the good firms will not do it simply because there is no justification (economically) to do so. Even if they take you to court they have a very slim case of winning any damages in your case ( you are not the culprit of copyright infringement. Damages are rewarded to those whose intellectual property rights have been seriously injured by the accused's commercial actions). I will not go too much in legal details but there simply isn't a case for them. By the way, don't send the watch to the firm. They will use it as evidence against you. Destroy with hammer and send the picture instead. Telling them you destroyed it as soon as you found out it was a counterfeit item. Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2

  10. You should buy a genuine Rolex on credit and then send it to them. Then when they don't tell you that you've sent them a genuine watch, sue their ass for extortion.

  11. At the end of the day, remember that you are buying the dealer, not the watch. Pretty much all the TDs can get you a watch you want, and it's usually all from the same sources. My suggestion is you have a look around the Breitling section, clue yourself up on the Navitimer and all the different versions and their reviews, the other boards rwi and rwg.bz all have good stuff too. Once you're more confident in what you want, have a look at some dealer reviews, send some emails and find a dealer you're most comfortable with and pull the trigger Good luck buddy

  12. The jumping second (not smoothly sweeping) on the quartz version is a BIG tell that you wear a rep! Also the 3 subdials are too close together on the quartz. If you really like the Navitimer I would strongly recommend go for the A7750 automatic movement, for example from Trustytime or Puretime etc. On their websites you can find pics and maybe a video of the Navi "in action". But be aware that the Navitimer rep is not one of the best reps out there... Biggest flaws/tells are: - sunken datewheel - no double AR on the crystal - slide rule not perfectly aligned to dial numbers - weak lume - bracelet feels very cheap; better go for a leather strap version!

  14. This used to be my grail watch for a while, until I went off the whole Quartz thing. I contacted Joshua to ask him if he could get hold of one for me. He said no, and the sites that list them are using pictures of Gens. I looked extensively and whilst there were a few sterile dial versions that looked okay there was always something not quite right about them. I would save a search on Ebay and see if a decent one comes up. The Superquartz movement was quite the innovation at the time the watch was released. N
