  4. Here is and update: Mike's Ebay store name is penzrus Unfortunately, there is nothing listed and there doesn't seem to have been any activity for a while. I do know that Mike was very ill and in the hospital for quite a long time. I believe the best way to get in touch with him would be by PM. Sorry I can't be of more help.

  8. I would suspect this is going to be pretty costly. unless you can have one made in S/S. Any of the gold ones are going to be pretty expensive, as it looks pretty massive and a fair amount of gold will be used in each ring. I know that people have been clamoring for a price, not sure he has gotten to the point of pricing it. First off, I'm sure that the price point is going to be pretty high, can't afford to stock these, because of the different sizes. These are not rings that look like you can have them resized should it not fit, would need to go up or down with a completely different ring. As I said before, I'm not a ring person, so absolutely no interest in this project except to say it is very nice work, and a lot of persistence o n the OP's part, plus a pile of money!!

  9. I wonder if this is one made by our own Mikellum? He made a few of these, not sure if he sold any outside of our forum. I got a couple of them from him as gifts. Here are mine, very similar although none of mine have the hands attached to the dial. These were from several dials that I sent him a to use for his project. I don't think these pens are easy to make and require a lot of time. I'm not sure what his health status is now, but you might try contacting him to see if he has any left. He did have and Ebay store, but I haven't checked there in a while. Here are mine

  11. For large volume, good quality text and graphic images in the early 50s, the newest best process was phototypesetting, images and text of the same color were arranged and photographed to produce an image carrier for each color. Pretty much the same as color ads in magazines until the newer computer processes took over in the 90s... The only better printing would be gravure (intaglio) which produces raised ink like you would find on invitations, business cards, and money. The photomechanical processes produce 'dots' because the plates have various sized holes that carry the ink, but the dots are not in line like a dot matrix printer, the youngster writing that one story I glanced at that you posted is an idiot. The magazine 'print' of the painting is a multi-screen photomechanical process, which is exactly what I would expect to see on old docs with graphics printed in the thousands of copies. If THAT old document were scanned and then printed with a modern inkjet process, the color dots would be run together more by the scanning and then pixelated by the printing process, and would show distinct lines and square edges that your document doesn't display.
