  3. That looks very familiar! I love my 5513 Gilt Underline, with a 1520 ticking away inside. New old stock steel vintage-lumed hands coming soon... drilling out the lugs and trying a different bezel/insert as well. Need to find a great bracelet as the weather change means no more leather for the summer. I pretty much go steel bracelet late spring, summer, early fall then leather or NATO in late fall through winter. Not that anyone cares haha One of the pics is of an attempt at aging the bezel insert. I'm going to have 3 bezels that I'll swap between before I decide on a "permanent" insert. I'm also getting a NOS tropic-19 genuine Rolex plexi. Beachcomber - your watch looks GREAT!

  4. Hi. This is your captain speaking. Been an awful long time down in the basement and as things are in my personal life, I am afraid I will spend most of my time down there, being your "wrench monkey" instead of being able to participate in watch discussions. The fact is that 3 days ago marked the 9th birthday of this forum. At least that was the day that we all moved from the old RWG and created our new home here. A lot of water has passed under the bridge in these years and we are now over 60.000 members and have more than 1,2 million posts. A lot of things has happened in the internet world also, technology wise and the forum software that we are using is facing a major upgrade. I am in the middle of testing out the upgrade as we speak and trying to prepare all files, databases, servers, etc for the upgrade, so that it will take place as smooth as possible. I just want to warn you all that the new software will introduce some major changes to the forum. It will also mean that a great deal of the "extras" we have installed today, will most likely not work until developers hopefully create new versions of the extras we use today. It will mean a new look, new buttons, new places for things you have been used to find in another place for a long time now. But the upgrade is needed, for many reasons; One of the major reasons is that I hope to be able to integrate the upgrade function into the forum software again. It hasn't been easy after I was blacklisted by PP and they closed ALL of my accounts (personal, personal business accounts, etc). but the "hidden" solution that is in place now has been working fairly good. Not going to make this post any longer than necessary, but just wanted to give you a heads up that there will be some downtime soon due to this. I will get back with more details as soon as I know when

  9. While we are all WIS, we are not all acolytes of everything computer, so I would guess that a fair majority of "real" watch people would not be caught dead with and Apple watch. However, considering that every time Apple upgrades the IPhone, people wait in line outside Apple stores for days to get the newest version, leads me to believe that these same folks will be lined up waiting to buy and IWatch. Frankly, I see this product,at least at this stage with a dearth of good apps, as what we in the medical field describe as "a solution looking for a problem". It looks like a wiz bang, jam up great product, now all we have to do is figure out what to do with it!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  12. Hi Gents, following DVNE tip (many thanks), I ordered a dome plexi. That way, the rehault seems less "wokky" (if I'm not misunderstanding that word).

  13. OK closed other two threads everyone can still read and form their own opinions. I am neither pro nor con just to many threads discussing same issue this leads to misinformed decisions. For my part I will say this, whether purchase large or small member new or old I do endeavor to help out. In regard to this happening money was refunded by Toro and mostly likely by an over-site not by design was refunded after it was supposed to be. All else is melodrama these things are bound to bring about, the fact that it has not gotten to Kargo is unfortunate but not Toro's fault he doesn't have it.

  14. "Why does the trust have to only go one way?" because they got it and you want it. This being said I have posted many times we are our own enemy in regard to these matters, gotta have it no patience or discipline we lose. As far as movements dealers not cracking open case back to check movements so they order X movement send to you ,you get Y nature of the beast. OH and Pics /QC of movements never the guys would refuse 90% of the dirty stuff we get, service when you get it...............

  15. You're absolutely right!!!....There's no way I'm going to buy a rep that I need to spend enough to buy ANOTHER rep on, just to get it to run properly for a reasonable period of time!! In my reality, I expect the watches I buy to be ready to run reliably from day one....Would you buy a new car, knowing that you had to spend a bunch of money on to run correctly right off the lot...??? IMNSFHO, this whole myth that it's OK for the dealers to sell defective merchandise is bogus!!
