  1. Very nice mate, I have one of these latest JF models to come, rejected first QC as the factories tried to pull a fast one, the watch was not from the JF factory. Wear it well mate. I'm sporting my SD4000 Untitled by Micky Aldridge, on Flickr

  2. I became the proud owner of a gen Cermaic Sub on Tuesday and thought I would do a couple of comparison shots for you. One note on the gen though, I did intend to sell this one as I bought below retail but this watch appeals to me more and more as I look at it and wear it! The fit and finish is much higher than the model it replaces. Also you do get used to it's bigger appearance. The clasp and bracelet are very impressive and the Ar'ed cyclops is brilliant in practise. Anyway onto the comparison. I'm not one for long reviews but the biggest differences between the 2 are as follows: Crown guards are shorter on the gen making the crown appear more proud of the case than it is. The bezel is too high and the teeth are not high enough or deep enough. Rehaut is not as tall on the gen which gives the crown a hiher position compared to the rep. Crystal not as crisp but that is normal on rep Rollies and no AR on cyclops. The date font on BK's datewheel is very good with no noticable difference. Hour markers have a rims that are too thick and also are slightly smaller than the gen. Hands on the rep are bigger in size. Bezel pearl is too dark on rep but the bezel finish is pretty good. figures are slighlty brighter o the gen watch. Gen insert is flatter. Case is not quite as crisp on the edges(fairly normal on reps though). Bracelet is quite good with quite nice SEL's. Lume is more blue on gen but the rep is not bad. I forgot to do a lume shot for you so I will add this later. All in all if you did not have them side by side you would only really notice the thick bezel and markers straight away and the rep is a nice watch in it's own right. Only the pure beautiful finish of the real watch shadows it when along side. Onto some pics!

  6. I had the same issue with my Blancpain FF... I asked the dealer if he could get me replacements, and he was able. He sent two pairs with my next watch purchase.

  13. Got an update from PBDad - Dial printing is almost done. Sapphire glass is ordered - 10 or so days for it arrive. Case is being chamfered as we speak. Hope to have it towards end of November. Can't rush perfection!

  14. I always liked the ingod44 Space Dweller dial the best, but he appears to be gone now, so Yuli's is the best current option. If I had my Explorer to do over again, I'd use a JMB case instead of the gen 16014 case I did use. He does great work, and it's an amazing offering for anyone that wants to build an Explorer. If you are going to swap hands, go with TC's. Also I'd get the dial re-limed to match when you do.

  15. I recommend looking into the insurance side of your business model. Do I think there is a market...YES..100%. The key to success will be risk management in not getting scammed on a runner or having one returned with damage. Risk management is so critical with something so delicate and portable. Many here drop $1000 or more a year on reps and associated upgrades and gen mods....so I think funds are there to form the basis of this business and total available market. Personally, for say $1000-$1500 a year, billed monthly, I would definitely sign up for a quarterly watch swap. I'd start with a gen Patek 5980 out the gate....and then move on to an IWC Grande Complication...yes! This business will likely not make millions in profit, but with the right pricing could generate a decent profit for a small operation. Cash flow will be the key since you can't currently lease the watches from the dealers. But, perhaps, you could get a line of credit and finance the inventory at a reasonable interest rate? And then, of course, you can wholesale the pieces (or set up a finance arm to sell them off to the members) and get 60-70% of the price back as you roll the inventory. Have you researched exotic car clubs? It's the same concept, but you get the cars for X days per year. There is also variant of this called Xtreme Xperience: http://www.thextremexperience.com/?gclid=Cj0KEQjwnrexBRDNmZzNkf7c4c4BEiQALnlxhbawUho7B-2gEDoNNy7XSoeOxYnujuQ8I9VNFxkPMo4aAmOr8P8HAQ I know the owner of this firm and he is doing quite well. He's added more cars, more staff and expanded to new cities in the US and beyond. For example, he rents a Lambo Huracan for $329 for THREE LAPS on the track (with a co-pilot from his firm). I took out the Mercedes SLR for a 3 lap run. It was $250 and lasted maybe 5 minutes...my company paid for it as a corporate outing of sorts. Hell of a lot of fun blasting that engine out of a corner! Incredible power. My point is, if someone will drop $329 for 3 minutes....I definitely think you'll find a group of rep/gen watch geeks that would subscribe to a swap program. Count me in....
