  1. I worked with nick many years ago when I was building my Frosty Flake and I learned about Snowflake hands way back then. There's a very specific set of ratios that make them look "right" and he was kind enough to show me. That's when I learned about long Snowflake tails too. This photo just happened on its own but it really shows several of the ratios. Too bad it wasn't 3:15:15 when I took it, then you'd see how the arrows and tips reach the tip of the hours index.

  4. Don't get me wrong, it's not my intention to break your watch down. With a great build like that, it screams for better hands and it will cost you peanuts. The hands from Phong or Yuki are just not good in my eyes. Tail from the seconds is circled in red and not close to genuine hands.

  5. @ChrisBlank Indeed. It looks perfect from another angle. Its on its way to my wrist.

  6. Continuing to tweak this build, I decided to send the midcase to Zocker next door for some lug work. (The standard Cartel lugs are a little plump for my taste). 3 months later the midcase came back with nicely chamfered and brushed lugs.

  7. Sure it does. Anything goes at the Fly-In. Check out those cheater STOL flaps and ultralight body... that plane gets used for one purpose. BTW that's probably more like a 30mph wind. Lots of planes here (like the Helio Courier) can fly and maneuver at 30mph, unimproved. The winner at last year's Fly-In had a 20 foot landing and a 24 foot takeoff, for a combined win at 44 feet, with a 14 knot wind. Here's the winner from this year.

  8. This was waiting for me when I returned from my trip. Must agree with mike00! This is a great OTB watch. Did a quick bracelet treatment, removed a link and good to go. I am funny about the fit and feel of watches. Many I like the looks of, I cannot wear because of my bony wrist. They just won't sit right on the wrist. Even though this is a thick watch, the case back is fairly flush and sits nice. The lightness of the TI adds to the comfort factor. Got lucky as movement winds great, date works perfectly and she is nice a quiet. Keeping excellent time so far. So QC was really good on this one. Lume is awesome. Go outside for a minute and come back in and she really glows. Great watch for the gym and pool and I can reduce some wear and tear on my gens. @mike00 thanks for the excellent review.
