  1. Ooooooo that's tasty. Nicely done. Here's how far I've descended on the path to Panerai Hell. Must resist...

  4. It's been a while since I last took a minute to post pictures of a build, but it's not everyday I get to work with Viet parts these days... And I wanted to share about this one. This is a case retailed by Phong. I reshaped it to have a better angle of brushing on the lugs and create large bevels. The polishing was made to give the feeling of an extremely well kept watch. No new. Not half destroyed. Just right. The crown is form the same dealer, but it was completed with an athaya tube featuring the correct seat shape allowing the crown to seat higher. Dial, hands are from Phong as well. The dial was matte: I tripped it and lacquered it with 3 coats of arylic, and finished it with Vernilline to simulate the patina. A puffy lume job after and voilà ! Bracelet is from Yuki of course, refinished with the mirror polishing inside like seen on early models. Inside beats a swiss slow beat and non hacking behaving like a genuine rolex calibre. A super piece to wear and keep !!!!! Enjoy the pics !

  5. There are three main problems with date wheel overlays (DWO) on eta 28xx movements: 1...Date wheel overlay rubs the underside of the dial because it is mounted on top of the original date wheel. This causes the date to change half way, not at all, or at random times during the day...random times because it sticks for a while, then comes loose. 2...Trouble installing the date wheel with overlay installed. 3...Hands too close to the dial. 1...Easy fix for problem one is to put a series of dimples in the calendar spacer ring so the dimples will hold the dial a fraction of a mm higher above the DWO. Use a small screwdriver or punch to make the dimples and try to make them all as close to the same as possible. Not much is needed, just enough to keep the DWO from rubbing the dial. Reminder: taller dimples = less space between dial and hands, less purchase for hands on CP/hour wheel. 2...There is no easy way to install a date wheel with the DWO installed but it is easier if you remove the date jumper plate (and spring) when removing the date wheel and install them after the dw with overlay is put back in place to prevent damage to the dw and overlay. Look at a parts pic to find the date jumper plate (p/n 2595), the date jumper aka 'index spring' (p/n 2784) is under it. Most of the hassle is caused by the index spring (with slight tension on it) being mounted under the date jumper plate, but with a little practice it becomes easier. Take care not to dislodge the DWO from the date wheel with a screwdriver or the screw when r/r the screw holding the jumper plate because there is very little space between the screw and DWO. You might get by with removing the other part that holds the calendar wheel in place...minute train bridge (p/n 462), but it has two little wings that have to be slid into slots in the plate plus the screw that holds it in place is partially covered by the DWO so it is easier to r/r the date jumper plate and spring. 3...The not so easy fix for problem three is a taller canon pinion, hour wheel, and sweep second pinion but they are not very expensive and are easy to get. You could also raise the hands on the original tubes a little bit but this will not help very much.

  7. Finally got around to assembling this beauty ! Only thing missing is the caseback. Still on the hunt and couldn't wait ? Rolie dial and hands ! Amazing ! 6513 Panerai case from I have no idea, but is good enough for now. Gen ETA 6497 movement with decorated bridges.

  13. Sorry yes I forgot to finish my thought on Ref 250, I found that the intermediate wheels are different from yuki to gen. The yuki ones have a shoulder on one of them that fits up into the plate (ref 268) pictured below whereas the gen ones are captured by the plate. If you want gen intermediate wheels you should change out the whole plate mechanism cover. Also the intermediate date wheel and date finger have different sized pivots as @Jigelow mentioned above. Getting into the keyless works the yoke (ref 266) may be needed as well if you want Gen Ref 250's due to the difference in the wheels as described above. The keyless Yoke ref 240 fits just fine but then the jumper for setting lever ref 230 has an extra bulge along one side that the yuki plate does not have space for (at least on mine) so this is not useable. Also on my plate I found that all these fit snugly on the post on the plate and are not easy to remove when installed. The Setting lever Ref 220 fits just fine as well as the spring for setting lever Ref 225.

  14. Pretty simple really, dude had it for sale, I sent him cash, it's on the wrist. But it did arrive broken, so I sent it off to Misiekped and he did his usual magic on it. Now it's running well. Thanks Mike!

  16. I don't know the reference number, but the date finger did not fit without modification to make the hole slightly larger.

  17. I'll share what I have found. I am in the process of combining a yuki and a 3135 to try and get 1 working 3135. See responses below. - ref 410 (escape wheel); the yuki seems to fit the gen plate and bridge. Haven't tested for working yet but it looks promising - ref. 130 (winding bridge). Yes and you can use the wheel and core from either yuki or gen in this plate both fit and function - ref. 140 (automatic works bridge) yes and you can use either tiki or gen parts in this both fit. - ref. 201 (winding stem) yes original stem fits and works - ref. 250 (setting wheel) I don't think these fit with the yuki cover plate/yuki yoke. See my next post below for more in depth discussion - ref. 260 (minute wheel) yes this fits - ref. 280 (hour wheel) yes this fits - ref. 305 (ratchet wheel) yes this fits - ref. 307 (barrel arbor) yes this or the whole barrel assembly (ref's 310, 307, 311) is interchangeable from gen to yuki - ref. 335 (min and cannon pinion) I had some issues with fitment with the bridge that holds in the min pinion you will have to get the gen min pinion bridge (ref 125) I believe it is due to different shoulder heights on min pinion and different jewel bushing size in the gen bridge vs yuki. Also found that the canon pinion gen doesn't fit on the yuki min pinion. Too loose fitment at least on mine. - ref. 360 (seconds wheel) yes this fits - ref. 451 (bridle for stud support) This should be ok but I didn't try. No real benefit as it looks exactly the same as yuki and the actual job is just to hold the spring stud which is definitely different between yuki and gen. I did not try but I do not believe the balance bridge of the gen can be adapted to use with the yuki balance and stud support. I think this would be too much trouble than it is worth to try. - ref. 540 (Reversing wheel) yes this fits. You will need two - ref. 5100 (case clamp screw) yes this fits. Honestly there really is no need or visible difference to go fully gen. Pick up any of the aftermarket 3135-5100's on ebay and they work just fine. Hope that helps let me know if you have any questions! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk

  19. That watch was something else to do !!! Imagine: it started as a 1680 case ! Yes, the only cartel case correct for a 2824 movement I could find was a PT 1680. It was intensively modified as you can see. Trimmed from the top down to appear super slim. Bezel and dial are from Vietnam... CWP T19 super dome. TC 16610 hands aged to match the dial. Caseback was the 1680 caseback totally modified. Inside runs a swiss made 2824. Voilà !!! Something else really, and lots of character on the wrist. Ah, and of course engravings by Neckyzips. Beautiful as usual.
