  1. I grew up in the cinema. I watched everything. I was lucky to be just the right age to witness the last great era of Hollywood. Barry Norman was my go to guy for film criticism. I didn't always agree with him but that's the way it should be. He was, however, a true lover of film and when he analysed a film it was with a keen eye and a lack of ego, something that is sorely lacking in many other critics. I do not like the role of a critic as it is by definition to criticise and that I find distasteful. Barry Norman was not to my mind a critic, he was an appraiser and I think film makers of the time would have been well advised to listen to his wise words. He had no axe to grind and no point to prove he just said it how he saw it. He gave me many hours of enjoyment and nurtured in me a love of film. I thank him. RIP. Top bloke.

  4. Just picked up this GMT Master ii from Andrew at TT, what a great customer service experience! All questions were answered in less than an hour generally and shipping took about 4 days from shipping date to my house in the US. The Watch is a noob best edition and I must say it's 9.8/10 almost perfect! If you're looking for this Watch don't hesitate buying from Andrew he will take care of you!

  6. This build starts with these ingredients 1. Gen 16200 case with engine turned bezel 2. Yuki 3135 Serviced by tickleshoes. 3. Refurb.Roman dial from ebay. 4. Yuki crown 5. Yuki bracelet 6. Generic 3135 / 3035 hands from ebay This build started by gather all the parts. Tickleshoes did a great job servicing this yuki 3135 movement and in fact run at COSC. Installing the dial: Installing the hands: It's starting to look like a watch now. Getting ready to install in case Getting ready to install case screws: Installed in case. The Yuki 3135 looks good and make the building process very easy because gen. parts fit and the movement fits in the case with out a movement ring as required in 28XX builds. In the case and ready for the bracelet. Wrist shot: Test results after service and bracelet as been installed This was a very fun build I really like the roman dial in white. Thanks again to Tickleshoes for servicing the movement, he does great work!

  9. He/they wrap the head in foil, so Customs can't see case stamps, generally he declares a value of $100. I got caught once and Customs asked me to pay $30 on the $100, but the watch was just over $2000, so I couldn't throw the money at them fast enough??? I imagine he would lower the value to be under the Customs value for Duty. It is $25 here in Ireland. If I remember correctly, you are in Sweden? Maybe you need to triangle it? I'm sure one of the guys in the UK will help you if you need it. Edt, yes he ships from USA

  10. Yes, you will receive photographs of your watch, or at least I always have. If you are not clear on some point, you can ask for more detailed pictures or indeed a different case, though I have never had to. Good luck with your project and don't forget to document it.

  11. In theory Jensen and Phong have the same prices, but because of sales and special offers, it is always worth looking at both. I have seen some significant difference in price. The cases are very good, but do vary a bit. In my opinion they do benefit from a light tickle from someone good at case shaping. See Phong cases from Dbane, Slay and the Vietnamese cases from Rolojack.

  13. Had my QC a little while back and I too noticed the bezel font is too bold, but at the price sold, I'm guessing the rep factory know about this, and have a new version coming out soon. DSCN8184 by S STEEL, on Flickr

  17. Hello, you are right Jensen is the man on the mid case. I just finished my 1959 square guard build a couple of weeks ago. Not inexpensive but a very convincing example of the gilt SCG 59. My recipe is as follows: Phong 1959 Square Crown guards case Phong Tudor engraved back Singaporean dial from the bay Decided against the 390 and installed a 2824 for ease of service. Onlinestorehk lollipop seconds Hour and minute hand from my parts drawer? Yuki 7206 rivet bracelet Aythaya 700 crown and tube Clark 5513 bezel assembly I believe a Clark T19 vintage (parts drawer again.)

  22. I've not seen it so can't really comment, but don't forget the hands too! Sword hands do look good. Here are some of mine. Gen 2254. A rep closed factory built by SSTEEL using a gen 2230 dial (relumed in white) and a PO bezel and insert. Finally, the Bond 50th Anniversary.
